Fans eagerly awaiting the release ofKingdom Come: Deliverance 2on 11th February 2025, have finally had their first look at the gameplay of the medieval sequel. Over the course of 25 minutes, many features were showcased, including; combat, NPC interactions, shops and inventories, and much more.

As always with immersive and deep RPGs, it is these small details that truly bring the world alive, and it seems clear that fans will not be disappointed. 1Respond To NPCs In Real Time

Explain, Retort, Greet, Jeer, & More

Similar to theNPC interaction systeminRed Dead Redemption 2, Henry is now able to reply to NPCs who talk to him in the street. For example, when passing a guard during the Gamescom gameplay forKCD 2, Henry can choose to respond to his request for no trouble with ‘Greet’ or ‘Jeer’. The ‘Greet’ option in this case caused Henry to say “God be with you.”

Small interactions like this make Henry feel more connected tothe medieval worldhe walks, but there was an even more interesting response shown earlier on. When fleeing a fight while also covered in mud, Henry’s foul smell is remarked upon by a passing Alehouse Maid, and in this case, Henry has the option to ‘Explain’ or ‘Retort’. With the first option selected, Henry then proceeds to explain how he will clean himself up.

2Change Outfits & Equip To Belt

Players Can Switch Between Prepared Outfits, With Even More Accessory Options

The firstKCDis among thegames with the best outfit customization, thanks to the immersive layer system, and the fact that clothes affect gameplay. For example, wearing darker and less noisy clothes is best for stealth. First of all, it is clear from the gameplay that all of these wonderful features have been carried over to the sequel.

However, a huge improvement is that players can now switch between outfits that they have prepared, instead of painstakingly replacing each individual item of clothing or armor. With a click of a button, players can swap out their heavy armor for fancy clothes suitable for a night in Kuttenberg. Additionally, fans might have noticed that most characters, including Henry, wear things on their belt, and in the Inventory menu there is an option for ‘Equip to Belt’. At the shop, there was also a Knight’s Belt and Knight’s Pouch to purchase.

Henry Has Some Interesting New Options During Combat

Among the many new details forKingdom Come: Deliverance 2revealed at Gamescom, is an addition to the fighting system. The original game was already known for itsfantastic first-person melee combat, but now players also have the option to use a Battle Cry or Taunt.

In the footage, the player opts for a Battle Cry, causing Henry to loudly declare his hunger, an inside joke for players of the first game. Presumably, there are other voice lines for this option, although exactly what it achieves in the fight is currently unknown. Less is known about the Taunt, but given some of the other voice lines throughout the video, players can expect some rather choice words. Even if these options are merely for flavor, they are still a welcome addition.

A Crafting Tab Can Be Seen In The Main Menu

Blacksmithing and Alchemy were already confirmed features forKingdom Come Deliverance 2, but during the gameplay reveal, it is also possible to see a Crafting tab in the menu. What this means exactly for the extent of crafting inKCD 2, is currently unknown, but it can only mean more options for this highly anticipated sequel.

As the original game could somewhat be played as amedieval sandboxor simulation game, crafting of any variety is always welcome. It should also be noted that a Markman’s Kit can be seen in other footage, similar to how there were Tailor Kits and the like in the first game.

This Adds More Vibrancy To The World

Like the first game,Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2is set in medieval Bohemia, but in a rich city like Kuttenberg, players should expect to see people from neighboring realms at the very least. During the Gamescom gameplay, two such characters were showcased,helping to make the world feel even more alive.

The first was a Polish character, whose last prayer, when translated, delivers more of the humor fans love from the first game. As revealed later, this character is known to Henry and may play an important part in his journey. The other non-Czech character was a German merchant, thanking Henry in German, and wishing him farewell. As Kuttenberg was an important and wealthy city within the Holy Roman Empire, home to many upper-class Germans, players can expect more of these interactions.

6Henry Still Feels Hungry

KCD Fans Can Expect Many Funny Moments Inspired By The First Game

If there’s one thing Henry is known for, it’s for always being hungry and never failing to let players know he’d like a bite to eat. Thankfully, Warhorse Studios has embraced this community favorite joke and given Henry even more opportunities to declare his hunger.

Hilariously, one voice line for the new Battle Cry optionduring combat, is Henry shouting “I FEEL QUITE HUNGRY!” There was another mini-cutscene, seemingly after a fight, where Henry says, “That was just a little appetizer, and now I’m hungry again. So I reckon it’s time for another course.” From these teasers and a few other moments, it’s safe to say that fans can expect more of the beloved humor for which the first game was known.
