Player Mistakes

Back to All Characters

Emilie is the first Dendro character inGenshin Impactthat hails from Fontaine. She wields the Polearm in battle, similar to Yaoyao. Polearm is usually the go-to if the developer doesn’t want players touse Sacrificial weapon inGenshin Impact, but considering Emilie already has 100% skill uptime, the weapon they choose can feel quite peculiar.

Although her gameplay is incredibly simple as players simply need to place her Elemental Skill and then switch her out, there are still some things that Travelers must know before they start using Emilie in their party. Here are some examples ofcommon mistakes and misconceptions about Emilie inGenshin Impact.

5Thinking She Snapshots

Snapshotting is a massivemechanic inGenshin Impactwhere it plays a large role in determining the best build and team for a character. When a character’s Skill or Burst snapshots, it meansthe damage of their Skill follows the stat they have upon cast.

For instance, due to her snapshot feature, using Xiangling’s Burst on Bennett’s Ultimate allows her to retain Bennett’s massive ATK buff in her entire Pyronado duration, even though she’s off-field and is no longer within Bennett’s Inspiration Field. This practically makes Bennett + Xiangling an iconic combo, since the damage she deals with endless Bennett’s buff is one of the things that keeps her on top of thebest Pyro character list inGenshin Impact.

Dendro

Sadly,Emilie doesn’t have a snapshotting ability, both on her Skill and Burst, which greatly decreases her DPS potential. She can still work with Bennett if she’s playing as the main DPS with C6 Bennett, but if the perfumer is a Sub-DPS, Bennett can only boost Emilie’s damage for about three seconds after she leaves the field.

4Ignoring Her Burning Mechanics

Emilie summons a Lumidouce Case with her Elemental Skill, which continuously deals Dendro DMG, similar toYae Miko’s Sesshou Sakura inGenshin Impact. Like Miko’s Sesshou Sakura, Emilie’s summon can also “level-up.” This enhancement triggers if anearby opponent is affected by a Burning Elemental Reaction. Without Burning, Emilie’s Lumidouce Case is significantly weaker.

This means Emiliemust be paired with at least one Pyro character to trigger Burning. The need for a Burning reaction also means Emilie canenable the team to use the Unfinished ReverieartifactinGenshin Impact.

Additionally, Emilie removes the previous harmful effect of Burning, which means you don’t have to worry about Burning your own team. Normally, the Elemental Reaction damages your own characters if you’re too close to Burning enemies. But, when Emilie’s Elemental Skill exists on the field, the perfumer grants 85% Pyro RES against Burning DMG to all party members.

3Focusing Too Much On Burning

While Burning is a core mechanic for Emilie, you should not build her with Elemental Mastery. Emilie’s primary damage comes from the traditional ATK/Dendro DMG Bonus/Crit setup, and building her solely to maintain Burning will be a waste of her many potential.

Players alsoshouldn’t focus on only Dendro and Pyro for Emilie’s teammates. She does need a Pyro unit in the party, but her Burning enables many otherElemental Reactions inGenshin Impact, such as Melt, Vaporize, and even Overload. Therefore, players should consider bringing other characters to Emilie’s team. For example, units like Wriothesley, Ganyu, and Furina are all excellent with the perfumer.

2Comparing Her To Nahida

Both Emilie andNahida inGenshin Impactprimarily take the role of a Sub-DPS, which causes some people to wonder, can Emilie replace Nahida? To put it simply, playersshouldn’t compare Emilie to Nahidasince the two have different focuses.

Nahida is a top-tier support andbuffer inGenshin Impact, whereas Emilie focuses more on damage dealing. Nahida is an excellent damage dealer but needs constant reapplication against small enemies, while Emilie is far easier to use in all cases due to how her Elemental Skill sits nicely on the field until players need to recast it.

Like many 5-star characters, Emilie also has massive uptime on her abilities, where her Skill lasts for 22s with a mere 14s CD, and her Ult has a low 13.5s CD with a measly 50 Energy requirements. This means that, in terms of damage, Emilie is a great character to have inGenshin Impact. All in all, though, Nahida can do what Emilie does, but not the other way around.

1Not Adjusting Her Equipment

Emilie works best as an off-field DPS, but she can also take the lead if necessary. For that, you must adjust Emilie’s equipment according to her role. Here’s a quick summary of Emilie’s best Artifact inGenshin Impact:

Similarly, Emilie’sbest weapon inGenshin Impactalso changes according to how much time she spends on the field. For instance, you can change her equipment like so:
