Version 4.8 is adding new Thespian Tricks toGenshin Impact, which are special character poses that initially made their debut in Version 4.7 through the Imaginarium Theater. One of the most common critiques ofGenshin Impactconcerns an unwillingness to commit to cosmetics – especially those unlocked via gameplay. Alternate outfits obtainable through Flagship Events only come twice per year, and each Region only has one Glider for players to work towards.
However, theImaginarium Theater inGenshin Impactis perfectly positioned to offer new cosmetic rewards to players, as both Version 4.7 and Version 4.8 will come with their own set of rewards. Whereas Thespian Tricks will rotate with each subsequent update, the Trail Appearances introduced in Version 4.8 will be a permanent addition to the new game mode. The Imaginarium Theater opens its doors on June 25, 2025, and will allow players to obtain the first set of Thespian Tricks.

Given his infamous absence from the Event Banners, Kaveh getting a Thespian Trick could imply that he will finally feature alongsideNilou and Navia during the first half of Version 4.8. However, this should be taken with a grain of salt, as Wriothesley will is a Special Guest Star for the Imaginarium Theater, but won’t be receiving a rerun until at least Version 5.0.
Genshin Impact Characters with New Thespian Tricks in Version 4.8
That being said, Yelan will be present opposite Emilie in the second half of Version 4.8, and she is indeed one of the characters receiving a Thespian Trick in the same patch. These poses are intended to be used through thephoto mode inGenshin Impact, and are mostly a freeze-frame taken from a character’s idle animation. While they may not be as flashy as a new skin or trail appearance, Thespian Tricks should at least allowGenshin Impactplayers to take better screenshots to share with friends or post on their social media accounts.
It should be noted that players won’t be able to obtain all the Thespian Tricks in Version 4.7, and it’s quite likely that Version 4.8 will have the same problem. Version 4.7 will feature six Thespian Tricks, while the currency used to exchange them can only be obtained three times per patch. As such, players should prioritize poses forGenshin Impactcharactersthat their account possesses. Though there is a small chance that HoYoverse will revert its decision, and allow players to exchange currency for older Thespian Tricks in Version 4.8 (and beyond), players should be mindful of how the current system works.
