Summary
A major quality-of-life change is coming toGenshin Impactin Version 5.0, as players will be able to craft their own 5-Star Artifacts with a desired primary and secondary attribute. The randomness in the Artifact system has long been a source of frustration in theGenshin Impactcommunity, as many characters rely on rare stats such as Crit Rate, Elemental Mastery, and Energy Recharge to get the most out of their kit. While other stats such as DEF%, HP%, and ATK% can be desirable, depending on the character, their flat counterparts are often seen as a waste due to the limited number of times that a player can upgrade an Artifact.
As the game evolved, and new regions of Teyvat opened up,Genshin Impacthas frequently added Artifact Setsto not only support its growing cast of characters, but also introduce new ways to play. Perhaps the best example from the Fontaine Era has been its Marechaussee Hunter set, which has allowed old characters to shine by borrowing the hit point fluctuation mechanic from Furina. However, new Artifact Sets also warrant a need to farm and level them up, and while the process has been streamlined in recent patches, it could be argued that obtaining the perfect Goblet or Circle still remains a grueling experience.
Thankfully, arecent leak shared by FouLreveals that Version 5.0 will giveGenshin Impactplayers a chance to not only create a 5-Star Artifact belonging to a chosen set, but to also decide its type, primary attribute, and an unknown number of secondary attributes as well. The number of times that players will be able to createArtifacts inGenshin Impactwill be limited, as only two of these new gadgets will be handed out per patch.
Genshin Impact Players Can Choose Artifact Stats in Version 5.0
This new feature, coming in Version 5.0, enables players to choose stats for up to two Artifacts every update via consumable gadgets. One of the gadgets will be obtainable via the paidBattle Pass track inGenshin Impact, while the other source currently remains unknown. Though FouL has confirmed that players will be able to pick the primary attribute of an Artifact, the number of secondary attributes is still up in the air. Most players speculate that no more than two secondary attributes will be selectable via the gadget, which still leaves the final fate of an Artifact to chance.
While this quality-of-life is undoubtedly welcome, it does have the potential to cause aGenshin Impactcontroversyfurther down the line. Given that one of the gadgets will be handed out via the paid Battle Pass track, players will carry the risk of paying for a Gnostic Hymn only to end up with a “bricked” Artifact. The developers will undoubtedly have more info on the new Artifact gadget during the next livestream, as Version 5.0 steadily approaches its late August 2024 release.
