Summary

Genshin Impacthas dropped a new teaser ahead of Version 5.0, the game’s next big update, which is expected to drop next month. The detailed trailer introduces the expected candidate for the Pyro Archon, as well as many natives of Natlan, known in Teyvat as the land of Pyro. Along with a handful of new characters, the “Ignition: A Name Forged in Flames” teaser also reveals minor plot points for the upcoming chapter ofGenshin Impact.

Natlan is one of the seven regions of Teyvat, whose inhabitants worship the Pyro Archon. Thousands of years ago, the Pyro Archon was Murata, the Lady of Fire, but there is not enough current information to determine whether Murata still holds this title. From what the teaser suggests, that honor may now belongs to Mavuika. The Nation of Pyro is known by other regions as the land of eternal war, and hints about a “tournament” are mentioned in the teaser through dialogue. From what can be inferred, Natlan seems to be hosting its own version of the Olympics, rather than a blood-soaked free-for-all as connotations of “war” would suggest.

Several Natlan characters were introduced in the newGenshin Impactteaser, but Mualani, Kachina, and Kinich were first seen ina teaser that followed theGenshin Impact4.8 livestream. Kinich also has a companion named K’uhul Ajaw, a cartoonish rendition of a dragon wearing black sunglasses who calls himself the Almighty Dragonlord. In the teaser, Chasca wonders aloud if some omnipotent “she” will be watching the tournament unfold. Then, the scene cuts abruptly to Mavuika, who seems to be highly respected by the natives of Natlan. She can be seen back-to-back with the mysterious Il Capitano, one of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers introduced during “Teyvat Chapter Interlude Teaser: A Winter Night’s Lazzo.”

Every Natlan Character Appearing In The Genshin Impact Ignition Teaser

As the Natlan characters prepare for the upcoming tournament in question, theGenshin ImpactIgnition teaser showcases each of their individual personalities. Mualani enthusiastically announces the game’s commencement, while Kachina has the privilege of putting the ball in play. Kinich and K’uhul Ajaw are clearly competitive players who take the game way too seriously, while Xilonen acts indifferent as she naps on a large tree branch. Citali seems to despise the tournament, wanting to be left alone, while Chasca’s interest is piqued as she wonders about Mavuika, who isthe best candidate for the Pyro Archonout of all the characters showcased. Meanwhile, Il Capitano and his sidekick of sorts, Ororon, snarkily accept Mavuika’s challenge to participate.

Both Chasca and Iansan belong to an elf-like species that bares some resemblance to another Pyro character named Klee, who is popular among fans. Iansan can only be seen briefly, but she appears to be wearing an orange-and-black headband decorated with an animal skull. More will be revealed about this colorful cast of characters whenGenshin Impact5.0 drops next month, presumably on August 28, if HoYoverse sticks to its consistent update schedule.
