Summary

Genshin Impactis making an exciting change to the Weapon Banner, as the number of Fate Points needed to complete an Epitomized Path has been reduced from 2 to 1. As a gacha title,Genshin Impacttends to skew towards having a generous system, both in terms of pity and in terms of how much free currency players can obtain per patch. That being said, the Weapon Banner has often been at odds withGenshin Impact’s overall philosophy, primarily due to the way its Epitomized Path worked.

Prior to Version 5.0, theWeapon Banner inGenshin Impactgave players a chance to pick between two 5-Star weapons, which have traditionally been the Signature Weapons of the two featured Event Banner characters. This Epitomized Path was designed to limit a player’s bad luck, but the system had major flaws. In order to guarantee their weapon of choice, players needed to lose their 5-Star pull two times in a row to acquire the needed Fate Points. Moreover, these Fate Points reset with every new banner, effectively causing the player to lose all accumulated pity.

In addition to the otherquality-of-life changes coming toGenshin Impactin Version 5.0, the developers have announced that the Epitomized Path would only require one Fate Point for all future Weapon Banners. This is a huge improvement, as it takes an average of 65 pulls to obtain a 5-Star weapon. If 130 pulls guarantees a player’s chosen 5-Star weapon inGenshin Impact, as opposed to 195 pulls, it also makes the Weapon Banner a far more enticing investment.

Epitomized Path Only Requires One Fate Point in Genshin Impact

TheEvent Banners for Version 5.0have been confirmed during the latest developer livestream, as Kazuha and Mualani will feature during the first half, while the second half will be headlined by Kinich and Raiden. Given how desirable Engulfing Lightning is as a Polearm inGenshin Impact, the second half will no doubt prove to be a test of the newly-adjusted Epitomized Path.

In addition to reducing the number of Fate Points for the Weapon Banner,Genshin Impactis also introducing a new gacha mechanic called Capturing Radiance. Capturing Radiance triggers every time players lose their 50:50 on the Event Banner, by giving them a 10% chance to obtain the promotional character anyway. From a statistics perspective, this raises the odds from 50:50 to 55:45, which should hopefully makeobtaining 5-Star characters inGenshin Impacteasier in the long term.
