An eagle-eyedHalofan spotted what appeared to be a reference to one of the franchise’s most iconic weapons in a recently releasedWolverinecomic. The firstHalogame came out in 2001 as a launch title for Microsoft’s original Xbox.

Most people probably associateHalowith the series' quiet and stoic protagonist, Master Chief, but just as iconic as the legendary Spartan super soldier is the weapon that he has primarily used ever since the franchise started, the Assault Rifle. In a recent Reddit post, user shadowthehh pointed out that Maverick’s gun in the third issue ofWolverine: Blood Hunt, which was released on July 10, looked very similar toHalo’s legendary Assault Rifle. While the weapon in the comic seemingly used a conventional magazine layout instead of the bullpup arrangement found inHalo’s recognizable M5A series of rifles, it resembled the guns in terms of overall shape. It also sported many of the Assault Rifle’s design quirks, such as the distinct upper housing and handguard, as well as its protruding barrel and flashlight.
