Best Light Cone
Back to All Characters
As the new journey inHonkai: Star Railcontinues and the Penacony arc concludes, players return to the Luofu, where they will encounter both familiar and new characters. One of the first characters introduced in this arc is Yunli, a Physical Destruction unit. Yunli stands out as the first limited unit in this category, with previous options only including Clara and the Physical Trailblazer. Similar to Clara, Yunli canlaunch follow-up counterattacksand heal herself, but she is primarily an Ultimate-focused character who benefits from using her Ultimate as frequently as possible.
Interestingly, Yunli’s Ultimate has a unique mechanic: while it technically costs 240 Energy, it functions as if it costs 120, allowing her to avoid overcapping on Energy regeneration and enabling her to launch it twice if fully charged. This is different fromcharacters like Argenti, who gain a damage boost from an enhanced Ultimate and need to wait for a full cap. Here’s how players can best build Yunli to maximize her strengths.
Best Yunli Relics In Honkai: Star Rail
Considering that much of Yunli’s damage comes from her Ultimate in the right setup, and her ability to utilize follow-up attacks, the best relic set for her is The Wind-Soaring Valorous. This set provides essential stats like additional ATK and Crit Rate while also boosting Ultimate DMG, making it ideal for maximizing her output. However, this relic set is relatively niche. If players haven’tbeen farming it alongside the artifact set for Firefly, known as Iron Cavalry Against the Scourge, they might opt forThe Ashblazing Grand Dukeinstead. This set is particularly good if the focus is on enhancing her follow-up attack damage. For those without strong options from these sets, combiningThe Ashblazing Grand Duke and Champion of Streetwise Boxingcan also be effective. In theory, however, a 4-piecePioneer Diver of Dead Watersset could outperform the mixed sets if players can consistently apply three debuffs to enemies. Yunli can apply one of these debuffs herself with her taunt, making this setup highly team-dependent compared to the other two sets.
For planar ornaments, Yunli has two strong options:Inert Salsotto, which straightforwardly increases both her follow-up attack and Ultimate DMG, andDuran, Dynasty of Running Wolves, which also works well, especially if paired with characters capable of follow-up attacks. The choice between these sets should be based on sub-stats and team composition, as they perform similarly.
When selecting main stats, players should generally prioritize Crit Rate over Crit DMG for the Body piece unless they’ve been fortunate with sub-stats, as both Yunli’s signature light cone and self-buffs already provide Crit DMG, despite her ascension traces offering Crit Rate. For the Feet, an ATK main stat is recommended over Speed, as Yunli does not benefit as much from speed increases due to the lesser contribution of her Basic ATK or Skill to overall damage. The best choice for Planar Sphere and Link Rope depends on team composition. Generally, Physical DMG and ATK are comparable unless Yunli lacks sufficient ATK stat or team members who can provide ATK buffs, such as Robin. For the Link Rope, ATK or Energy Regeneration Rate (ERR) should be chosen based on team dynamics; if characters like Tingyun or Huohuo are present, ERR may not be necessary, making ATK the preferable choice, which also supports the argument for prioritizing Physical DMG over ATK in the Sphere. Sub-stat priorities include Crit Rate, Crit DMG, and ATK, aligning with typical DPS character builds.
Best Yunli Light Cones In Honkai: Star Rail
Yunli’s best-in-slot light cone is her signature light cone,Dance at Sunset, which offers significantly more damage output compared to other options. This light cone is particularly strong due to its ability to enhance Crit Values and provide additional benefits when Yunli is attacked, triggering her counterattacks more frequently and increasing the damage of follow-up attacks. As such, usingDance at Sunsetmakes focusing on her follow-up attack and placing her in a follow-up oriented team more effective than focusing solely on her Ultimate.
The two best alternatives, though still limited light cone options, areThe Unreachable SideandBrighter than the Sun. Both of these Light Cones serve as excellent stat sticks for Crit Values, enhancing Yunli’s damage potential. However, they lack the specific synergy with Yunli’s kit thatDance at Sunsetprovides.
For more free-to-play friendly options, players can consider Clara’s light cone,Something Irreplaceable, if they have previously obtained it. Another entirely F2P option isOn the Fall of an Aeonat max superimposition, which can be a solid alternative, offering reliable damage boosts, though not as specialized as Yunli’s signature Light Cone.
