Summary

The Green faction is led by Aegon II Targaryen inHouse of the Dragon. Those who ally with Aegon and Alicent and have declared the former to be the rightful King of the Seven Kingdoms are essentially classified as the Greens.

Of course, the Dance of the Dragons is a war among the Targaryens and in this war, dragons fought dragons. Fans know that both the Greens and the Blacks had powerful dragons at their disposal. When it comes to the Greens, specifically, they had some of the most powerful ones.

4Tessarion

Out of all the dragons that the Greens had, Tessarion is certainly the weakest one. Tessarion is the dragon of Prince Daeron Targaryen, who is the youngest child of King Viserys and Alicent Hightower. Fans have not seen this character in the show just yet, but he will likely make his appearance later down the line. Speaking of Tessarion, fans know that this was a blue she-dragon, and the youngest one that Aegon had under his belt.

Tessarion was of fighting age by 129 AC, and the beast ended up dying in 130 AC, which clearly means that neither did it have enough fighting experience, nor was it all that powerful. It was said that at its peak, Tessarion was just 1/3 the size of Vermithor. Still, she was a dragon worthy of love and respect, and given the enemies that she was up against, it was always a losing battle.

3Sunfyre

The dragon of King Aegon Targaryen himself, Sunfyre was certainly older than Tessarion, and as such, bigger in size. Sunfyre was certainly not known for its fighting capabilities. It was said that this beast was the most beautiful of all Dragons, which is what made it special.

By 129 AC, Sunfyre was seen as strong enough to fight in dangerous battles. Sunfyre was already claimed by Prince Aegon II Targaryen by 120 AC, which meant that, at the very least, the fighting prowess of this beast was higher than that of Tessarion. While the beast was absolutely incredible in terms of power, Rook’s Rest saw to it that it lost its glorious beauty, and at the same time, the vast majority of its fighting capabilities as well, given that its wing was completely torn.

Sunfyre then recuperated on the battlefield for quite a while, before it eventually moved to Dragonstone. Sunfyre did not fight many battles. When it did fight against the likes of Meleys, it didn’t look like it was making significant progress in any way. Had it not been for Vhagar,Meleys might still have been alive, which doesn’t paint quite a good picture of the strength of this Dragon. Just like Aegon himself, the Dragon was also weak.

2Dreamfyre

Dreamfyre is one of the oldest dragons that fans have seen in House of the Dragon. This she-dragon was born around 32 AC, which means that she was actually born during the time of Aegon the Conqueror. The dragon bonded with the Conqueror’s granddaughter, Rhaena Targaryen, first of all. After Rhaena Targaryen, the dragon eventually bonded with Helaena Targaryen, the daughter of King Viserys and Queen Alicent. Dreamfyre already made her debut in House of the Dragon Season 1. Back then, the dragon was already massive in terms of size. However, still not the largest in Westeros, and quite far from that actually.

When Queen Helaena committed suicide, Dreamfyre was clearly in quite a lot of pain as it roared and snapped off its chains. Eventually, Dreamfyre ended up dying during the Storming of the Dragonpit. Dreamfyre was quite powerful, however, it remained largely untested, due to Helaena’s grief keeping her from riding her often. Dreamfyre met a tragic end, just like many other dragons in the dance, and thus weakened the stature of House Targaryen forever.

1Vhagar

Of course, the largest of all dragons that the Greenshave is certainly Vhagar.Vhagar is a she-dragon who was once ridden by Queen Visenya Targaryen. After her, Baelon Targaryen became her rider, following which, Laena Velaryon bonded with her. The death of Laenaleft it unclaimed, until Aemond. After the Black Dread, Vhagar is easily the largest dragon alive in Westeros. Her power is immense and such that no other could match it.

Her flames could essentially burn everything to a cinder in the blink of an eye. She could swallow a horse whole, if not more, and that just goes to show how tremendous the firepower of this beast was. Vhagar was eventually claimed by Aemond Targaryen, as seen in the first season of House of the Dragon. Although he paid a massive price for it, given that he lost one of his eyes, bringing Vhagar to the side of the Greens was the biggest thing that he could have done for Alicent and Aegon. In the entire Dance, Vhagar was the strongest, and without her, the Greens would have fallen a long time ago.
