Summary

Rhaenyra Targaryen has had a couple of rough weeks inHouse of the Dragon.After weeks of going back and forth, and irking her council due to her inaction, she raises an army in the penultimate episode off. Her husband, Daemon, does not stand beside her in the initial phase of the war. Instead, he leaves for Harrenhal after orchestratingthe Blood and Cheese plot, and remains there for most of the season.

Rhaenyra’s heir, Jacaerys Velaryon, comes up with the idea of putting people of thin Targaryen blood on dragons to bolster their fighting forces. While he expressly forbids lowborns from taking part inthe Sowing of the Seeds, Rhaenyra calls for the Dragonseeds of King’s Landing to try their luck at mounting dragons at the Dragonmont. She arranges rowboats and welcomes them to her stronghold, where the forewarns all of them before the taming of Vermithor begins. In the end, two riderless dragons find their riders inHouse of the Dragon. Here’s what viewers should know about the new riders and their mounts before the season finale.

Addam Of Hull And Seasmoke

Addam Wants To Learn The Ways Of Dragonriders

After Seasmoke burns Ser Steffon Darklyn, he leaves Dragonstone and searches for Addam of Hull on the beaches of Driftmark.Seasmoke pursues Addam, inches closer, and shortly after, Rhaenyra hears that he has taken a new Dragonrider.

Addam does not intend to steal Seasmoke, or even to become a Dragonrider. That being said, he had waited a long time for a chance to prove himself. Addam bends the knee to Queen Rhaenyra, declaring his intention to serve her in the war. Rhaenyra brings him to Dragonstone and begins his training in High Valyrian to prepare him for the upcoming battles.

Hugh the Smith And Vermithor

Hugh Wants A Better Life For Himself

A smith who specializes in the construction ofthe dragon-killing Scorpions, Hugh walks into Aegon II’s court at the beginning ofHouse of the Dragonseason 2. He petitions the king to release the pending payments, and Aegon II gives him his word. Later, Hugh, of silver hair and the quintessential Targaryen features, is seen tending to his sick daughter in the presence of his wife, Kat. King’s Landing is running short on food and essentials, and Hugh’s daughter is dying. Kat insists they stay with her brother at Tumbleton, but Hugh is not willing to do so until things worsen.

Hugh eventually loses his sick daughter as Aemond prevents the Smallfolk from leaving the city, and cannot ensure food security. Hugh answers Rhaenyra’s calls, hoping for a life of comfort. He also reveals his Targaryen heritage to his wife, which he had kept a secret until this point. Without explicitly naming his mother, Hugh mentions his mother was Viserys and Daemon’s aunt. Hugh boards a rowboat for Dragonstone, and he sees Vermithor or the Bronze Fury approach his lot. The Dragonseeds were burnt left, right, and center, but Hugh saves a woman by grabbing Vermithor’s attention.

Hugh tames the Bronze Furyby looking him in the eye. Vermithor stands still, and Hugh gets to feel his scales.

Ulf And Silverwing

Ulf’s Friends Push Him To Answer Rhaenyra’s Call

Ulf, who has boisterously claimed to be ofDragonseed descent allalong, finally found his chance when Rhaenyra sanctioned the Sowing of the Seeds. He had earlier claimed to be the bastard half-brother of Viserys and Daemon, and uncle to Rhaenyra and Aegon II. Ulf would frequent a tavern in King’s Landing where Dyana worked, and was thoroughly dissatisfied with the Greens handling the severe food insecurity.

Ulf was in the crowd of the Dragonseeds and managed to escape Vermithor’s wrath. He stumbled intoSilverwing’s lair, and the dragonjust took him. Ulf’s energetic and cheerful nature came in handy as he flew over King’s Landing to goad the Greens. Aemond chased after him atop his own dragon, Vhagar, but was forced to return once he saw new dragons across the Bay.

Sheepstealer And Lady Rhaena Targaryen

Rhaena Wants To Be A Dragonrider Like Her Sister

Sheepstealer is yet to be introduced inHouse of the Dragon, and Nettles has been cut out from the plotline. Lady Rhaena is going to be the new Dragonridercome the final episode. Rhaena remains in the Vale as of the penultimate episode, where she is searching for Sheepstealer. She was informed that a wild dragon had come ranging for food, shortly after the war, and is convinced that this is the dragon she seeks.

As its name suggests, this wild dragon loves to devour sheep, as is evident from bones outside the Eyrie. Rhaena will claim Sheepstealer and fulfill her destiny as a Dragonrider. Lady Rhaena is the fourth Dragonrider, after Addam,Hugh, and Ulf.
