The Face-Puncher is a fairly unique weapon inBorderlands 3. While a shotgun by design, its pellets do melee damage. The legendary gains all melee bonuses from all sources to increase its damage output. Hence, the Face-Puncher only proves efficient with amelee build inBL3. Your damage output will significantly be reduced on any other (non-melee) build.

Many players tend to make light of the Face-Puncher. It can feel a bit underwhelming at the start, even with melee builds. However, once your vault hunter starts leveling up and gains better items, the improved melee bonuses let you hit enemies from range like a truck.
