Players can equip a wide range of Talismans inElden Ring; with even more added in theShadow Of The Erdtreeexpansion. Talismans offer passive buffs that can further enhance your damage, stats, or resistances to make the difficult bosses throughout the game much easier.
While most of the Talismans and effects in the game are tailored to both PVE and PVP, some effects do work very differently depending on what you are facing. One Talisman that is much more useful in PVP than PVE isConcealing Veil, which is dropped from one of the more unique bosses in the game.
Updated on July 31, 2025, by Mehrdad Khayyat:It is difficult to have the track for all the items and weapons in the rich world of Elden Ring without following the discoveries of other players. There are enough sewers, caves, dungeons, and hidden locations in the Lands Between that it is quite easy to get lost.
However, sometimes achieving a certain weapon, Talisman, or consumable could make a lot of difference, especially if the item fits with the player’s character build. Concealing Veil is a Talimsan that works perfectly with builds that rely on stealthy mechanics.
Where To Get The Concealing Veil In Elden Ring
The Concealing Veil isdropped by theBlack Knife Assassin (Sage’s Cave)boss at the end of Sage’s Cave. Sage’s Cage is found along the western section of theAltus Plateau. To get here, travel to the Abandoned Coffin Site of Grace and ride torrent along the large lake to the northeastern corner. Once entering, you won’t be able to fast travel out but can walk out at any time.
Sage’s Cave is a very linear dungeon, witha few illusionary wallsblocking paths forward and to loot. There are a large number of chests in this cave, with none of them being trapped and all of them full of useful loot. The boss at the end of the cave is theBlack Knife Assassin, who is invisible almost the entire time.
Defeating The Black Knife Assassin
Watch for footsteps in the water to track the boss, and always be on the moveas it will try to get behind you for a backstab attack. After you hit the boss once, it will briefly appear, making it easy to get quick bursts of damage in. Overall, the boss doesn’t have much health butranged attackers and spell-casterswill have a hard time locking onto the boss thanks to invisibility. If you do need to lock on, focus on getting in one melee attack before then locking on and casting a spell before the boss disappears again.

Conceals wearer while crouching away from foes.
The Concealing Veil works very differently against NPCs than itdoes against PVP enemies. While crouching, you become invisible when a few feet away from other playersfrom their point of view. While crouched, you can still move and stay completely invisible, but should your enemy get too close you will be seen and the effect vanishes. In both PVP and PVE situations, you’ll know this Talisman is in effect as its icon will appear along the top of the screen under your health bar.
Against regular NPC enemies, this Talisman has little use. It doesmake you slightly harder to detect, but the difference isn’t very noticeable. Should an enemy see you, they can stay locked onto you even if you get far enough away to trigger the invisibility against an invader. Overall, this Talisman is much more effective in PVP, andnot worth using in PVE.
