Building a pretty base inOnce Humanisn’t enough. In this post-apocalyptic world, you’ll also need to set up some defenses if you want to keep your home safe from invaders. Gatling Cannons offer extreme stationary firepower, but if you’re new to the game, getting and using one can be a bit confusing.
Players can start building their own Gatling Cannons a little later in their currentOnce Humanserver’s seasonal phase, which is perfectly fine considering how expensive these can be to use. If you want to maximize your base defenses or participate in Prime Wars, here’s what you need to make cannons of your own.
How To Build Gatling Cannons in Once Human
You can unlock the crafting blueprint forGatling Cannonsby purchasing the Close Defense Turret I node under the Building tree of the Memetics screen. This costs 7 Ciphers/Meme Points and 2000 Energy Links. However, this is a Tier 4 memetic, so not only do you have to purchase all the other memetics before it, but you’ll also likely have to wait until the second phase of the current season begins.
To build a Tier 1 Gatling Cannon, you’ll need the following materials:
You canget Iridium Crystals inOnce Humanby scavenging level 31–40 areas, and Special Parts can be obtained by dismantling materials found in high-level regions. Aluminum Ingots are smelted in an Electric Furnace using Aluminum Ore and Acid. Meanwhile, Barreled Premium Fuel is obtained by either refining Portable Mixed Fuel or completing Workshop Defense events.
Upgraded Cannons
You can unlock an upgraded version of theGatling Cannons IIby purchasing the Close Defense Turret II memetic for 10 Ciphers and 5000 Energy Links. This upgraded version requires:
All materials for the enhanced Gatling Cannon variant can be obtained by looting and harvesting materials in level 40+ regions.
How To Use Gatling Cannons
Unlike the regular base defense turrets, Gatling Cannons must be manned by a player, or else they’ll stay idle. Additionally, you need ammunition for them. The most accessible type of cannon ammo is Biomass Missiles, which come together with the Gatling Cannon crafting spec from Close Defense Turret I. To build just one of these, you’ll need a Synthesis Bench and the following:
Gatling Cannon ammo will automatically get loaded from your inventory and into the guns themselves. Press LMB to fire Biomass Missiles, and RMB to fire Red Plasma Rounds (if you have any).
Steel is easy enough to get, but the others are going to be hard to get in large quantities.Gathering Stardust Source inOnce Humancan be tedious if you don’t have the right Specializations, and spending so much on expendable ammunition may leave a bad taste for some players, considering how much Stardust Source is required for upgrading gear.
