Gallons are the more common currency inSteamworld Heist 2and are used tobuy new ship partsor gear for your crew. While these are useful upgrades, bigger more substantial upgrades are purchased with Fragments, which are much less common to come across.
Your number of fragments can be seen in the top right of the screen, represented by the pink gem icon. Early on, Fragments may seem difficult to find, but they are farmable if you know what to do.
How To Get Fragments In Steamworld Heist 2
Like all types of currencies inSteamworld Heist 2; Fragments can be earned in a few different ways:
Explanation
Finding Them In Bars
While very uncommon, Fragments can be found in bars if that bar has a Fragment icon next to the name. The chest of Fragments will be hidden and will take some exploration to find.
Reputation Rewards
When turning in Reputation at the end of the day,some of the rewards can be Fragments.
Purchasing Them
While rare, Reputation can bepurchased at some stores for Gallons, though the cost is usually high for the number of Fragments purchased.
Completing Missions
The icon next to a mission name will be the reward for finishing the quest for the first time. Some missions will have the Fragment icon, and they will be rewarded for the first time the mission is completed, but can’t be farmed.
Mission Loot
While on a mission, bags of loot can be picked up by standing on them. Thesebags of loot have a chance of giving Fragments, and this method can be farmed. Missions can be repeated, and the loot found from the bags always has a chance of giving Fragments, though it’s not always a guarantee.
What Are Fragments Used For In Steamworld Heist 2
Fragments only have a few uses, but their upgrades go a long way compared to those purchased with Gallons. While in your sub, in the room just to the left of the main room, will be the Sub Upgrade menu, which uses Fragments. Theseupgrades offer larger and more lasting upgrades, such asincreasing the number of Gallons you getby 10% across the board.
There is also the Personal Upgrade Terminal, which can be purchased to give you the ability to purchase the special skills of each crew member, on top of theskills from their skill tree. The Personal Upgrade Terminal can be found in the room below the Sub Upgrade board, andevery crew member will have a Personal Upgradethat can be purchased and used right when they are hired.
