InBaldur’s Gate 3, your stats play a vital role in how you navigate the world and overcome challenges. With a finite number of points to distribute throughout a run it’s important to spend them wisely and specialize. Thankfully, there are a few useful tricks you can use to boost your stats without needing to invest any of those precious points.
One way you can boost your stats inBaldur’s Gate 3is by using Elixirs of Hill Giant Strength. These potent Elixirs can be used to raise your Strength to 21 until your next Long Rest, which can enable you to drop Strength entirely and invest your points elsewhere while still having an exceptionally high Strength stat. If you know where to track these down, you can stock up early and collect more than enough to keep you going through all three of the game’s Acts.
Where to Farm Elixirs of Hill Giant Strength
The easiest way to get some Elixirs early on is bytaking advantage of Auntie Ethel’s Shop in the Druid Grove (and later, at the Riverside Teahouse).Every time you take a long rest, she restocks with three Elixirs of Hill Giant Strength, making it incredibly easy to stock up on them. You’ll need some money to afford all these Elixirs, but that’s nothing a bit of questing and looting can’t fix. If you’re feeling confident and have a suitably dextrous Rogue, you could try picking Ethel’s pockets and reclaiming the gold you spent on the elixirs, though this could sour your relationship with her if you get caught. You can save before trying it and reload if you fail, as long as you’re not playing in Honor Mode, so if you’re okay with reloading regularly, you can spend the same gold over and over again.
Another merchant who restocks their supply of Elixirs every long rest is Derryth Bonecloak in the Underdark, also accessible during Act 1. She sells 1–2 Elixirs per long rest, making her a viable alternative if you’ve lost access to Ethel.
After leaving Act 1, it gets much harder to reliably track down Elixirs of Hill Giant Strength.Talli and Mattis at the Last Light Inn can sometimes stock them, though this is not guaranteed. Their stock resets every time you take a long rest, so you can keep checking back if you desperately need some. Beehive General Goods, a shop found in Lower Baldur’s Gate, can also stock Elixirs of Hill Giant Strength sometimes, providing a way to get them in Act 3. Speaking of Act 3, there is a single guaranteed Elixir of Hill Giant Strength on the second floor of the South Span Checkpoint, in Wyrm’s Crossing.
