Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtreeadds a bunch of new items to the base game. From weapons to armor sets to talismans to ashes of war, there is more of everything to go around in the DLC and that includes Spirit Ashes.
The Jolan and Anna Spirit Ash is perhaps one of the hardest ashes to obtain among all the new ones introduced in the Shadow Realm, as it is actually a modification of an existing ash that itself is a chore to acquire.
Jolan and Anna Ashes – Summon Cost & Tips
Spirits of two Swordhands of Night, one of them being possessed by Count Ymir’s doll Anna. Together, Jolan’s sword and Anna’s claws are as bottomless black, and penetrate the enemy’s guard. Jolan and Anna were born in a cold, dark gaol, where they were raised, deprived of light, to be Swordhands of Night. Thus were they cultivated to become the most terrifying masters of their blades, though the burden of the deed left their hearts frail and pliant.
The Jolan and Anna Ashes is a new Spirit Ash inShadow of the Erdtreethat summons Jolan and Anna, two Swordhands of Night wearing the traditionalNight Set. Both sisters have reasonably good AI and like to charge in as soon as combat is initiated, taking away attention from the player. Jolan wields theSword of Night, whose weapon skill has the ability to go through Guard, and Anna wields theClaws of Night, which inflicts bleed.
The Jolan and Anna Ashes can be upgraded to +10 withGhost Glovewort, and in theShadow of the Erdtree, Jolan and Anna Ashes can be upgraded using Renowned Spirit Ashes. To summon the Jolan and Anna Spirit Ashes,Elden Ringplayers must have144 FPavailable.
In the current version ofElden Ring, upgrading Jolan and Anna does not seem to have any effect on their DPS and HP, rendering them essentially the same at +10 as they are at +0. This is likely a bug that will be fixed in a future update.
Where To Find Jolan and Anna Ashes Location
The Jolan and Anna Ash is actually an evolution of the Swordhand of Night Jolan Spirit Ash obtained after completing Jolan’s questline at theCathedral of Manus Metyr. There are three steps players will need to complete in order to get it.
How to Complete Jolan’s Questline
Jolan’s questline is a fairly lengthy endeavor that requires first reaching the Cathedral throughBonny Village, then fulfilling Count Ymir’s request of ringing the three bells in the Finger Ruins of Rhia, Dheo, and Miyr, one after the other. Then, players will need to defeat Metyr, Mother of Fingers, Invader Jolan, and finally Count Ymir. Afterward, Jolan will appear slumped over in her usual spot in the Cathedral. Talking to her will reveal two possible endings for her:
How to Reach Rabbath Rise Tower Top (Anna’s Puppet Location)
After obtaining Jolan’s Spirit Ash, players will be able to upgrade it and convert it into the Jolan and Anna Spirit Ash by interacting withPuppet of Anna in Rabbath Rise Towerdirectly north of the Cathedral. Anna’s puppet is hidden in the topmost floor of the Tower, an area that can only be accessed by jumping to the top balcony from the cliffside above. The area in question is the Shaman Village, and reaching it requires using the’O Mother Gesture’in front of the Statue of Marika next to the Shadow Keep, Back Gate Site of Grace.
While standing at the cliffside in Shaman Village overlooking the valley below, position Torrent next to the Tower and aim for the stone balcony below. Dismount Torrent upon landing and head inside to find Anna’s puppet. Anna wears theNight Set, the same as her sister Jolan, and will be immediately identifiable at a glance. Confirm that you want to merge the Spirit Ashes when prompted and you’ll obtain the Jolan and Anna Spirit Ash.
