AnElden Ringfeature that players have been asking forever since it first launched is a weapon that doubles as a spell-casting implement. Normally, you have to have a Staff equipped to cast any Sorceries inElden Ring, but a new weapon you can get inShadow of the Erdtreefunctions asbotha sword and a Sorcery catalyst.
Whenwielded in one or two hands, theCarian Sorcery Swordcan be used as a melee thrusting weapon with the Light attack, but the Heavy attack allows you to cast spells. This guide explains how to get the Carian Sorcery Sword in theElden RingDLC, and details important information about this unique spell-casting sword inShadow of the Erdtree.

InElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree,Carian Sorcery Sword is a new weapon of the Thrusting Sword weapon type, but it’s a lot more than just a simple sword. In fact, while wielding the Carian Sorcery Sword, casting Sorceries with the sword becomes possible. Indeed, FromSoftware has finally added a long-requested Sword that doubles as a Sorcery Catalyst. Unfortunately, it will not work for Incantations, though some have claimedthere is another item in the gamethat serves a similar function as this sword for Faith-users.
To cast Sorceries with the Carian Sorcery Sword, all you need to do it press the normal Strong attack button (R2/RT) while wielding the sword with either one or two hands. Just like casting Sorceries with a staff, using a Heavy Attack with the Carian Sorcery Sword will cast your currently-equipped spell in the top slot.
The Carian Sorcery Sword scaling is likely significantly lower than a fully-upgraded regular Glintstone Staff, so you will deal less damage casting spells with the Carian Sorcery Sword than normal. But being able to wield a Sword that can cast Sorceries inElden Ringopens up a world of possibilities, and that kind of utility should make any Sorcery-user go out to get the Carian Sorcery Sword as soon as possible.
The Carian Sorcery Sword can be upgraded usingSomber Smithing Stones to +10, and cannot benefit from spell-based or consumable weapon buffs. Though its stat screendoes not display its Sorcery scaling, it is likely that the Carian Sorcery Sword’s spell scaling increases alongside its Weapon Upgrade level.

Carian Sorcery Sword Weapon Skill: Impaling Thrust
The Carian Sorcery Sword Ash of War is Impaling Thrust, which can be changed. When used, you will charge up an attack briefly before lunging forward to deal a devastating thrusting blow. Itinterrupts all but the highest-poise enemies.
This weapon skillcosts 9 FPto cast, and cannot be chained into a follow-up attack.
Skill that lets piercing armaments overcome enemy shields.
Build power, then lunge forward for a strong thrust that pierces an enemy’s guard.
Where To Find Carian Sorcery Sword Location
Toget the Carian Sorcery Sword inShadow of the Erdtree, you must find a secret area of Castle Ensis that can only be accessed from a specific point in the Scadu Altus region. From the Scadu Altus Site of Grace, which can beunlocked after beating Rellana, Twin Moon Knight, head north.
Look on your map (after collecting the Scadu Altus fragment) to find Castle Ensis. You will see what looks like an island north of the Castle itself – your goal is to reach this area so that you can jump down onto a tower. Head north, hugging the river, until you see a waterfall on your left. You can also take a longer route around and jump down a short cliff to reach this same area and the West Scadu Altus site of grace.
From this site of grace, simply head southeast to find a ledge that’s about surface-level with one of the Castle Ensis towers. Jump down to the rampart, which will automatically dismount you from Torrent. Walk around this hidden Castle Ensis area to eventually find an unguarded chest which contains the Carian Sorcery Sword.
