How to Get the Fusioncutter in Star Wars Outlaws
TheFusioncutteris a late-game toolthat can be acquired during the “Legacy” main-story mission. Most of “Legacy” takes place on Akiva, but it is not tied directly to the “The Droidsmith” or “Viper.” So, even if you head to Akiva first when you have the option early in the game, you will not be able to compete “Legacy” and get the Fusioncutter until you have finished the main quests on Kijimi and Tatooine.
Kay will encounter certain gates around the game-world that require the Fusioncutter to enter, but there does not appear to be any method of getting this tool early. You will simply have to wait to come back to these roadblocks later in the game.
Kay Acquires the Fusioncutter:
Once Kay has completed her work on the three main planets, she will begin the work of finding a second Slicer. “Legacy” starts out going in this direction, though it quickly diverts into a rescue mission for ND-5. Without getting into spoilers, Kay must enter a vast underground complex to find an extremely rare part. Gedeek, the namesake Droidsmith that Kay recruited earlier, accompanies her on this quest.
While making progress through the complex, Kay and Gedeek encounter the special gates that the Fusioncutter is designed to bypass. After cutting through the first gates himself, Gedeek will give it to Kay when she needs to head off on her own. From this point on, Kay will have the Fusioncutter in her inventory.
Where to Use the Fusioncutter in Star Wars Outlaws
Aside from the mandatory gates that Kay must cut through duringmain missions like “Legacy,” Kay will encounter the gates blocking various areas around the world. More often than not, there will be helpful upgrade items behind the gates, making them particularly helpful when collecting items for late-game improvements to the Blaster, Vehicles, and Tools.
It is currently unknown exactly how many of these gates are found inStar Wars Outlaws, but there are likely several of them spread out across the four main planets. The best way to find them, or any hidden stash, is to follow the question marks on the compass that is found at the top of the HUD. In the example above, we discovered one of the gates hiding a New Treasure Location calledPiapo’s Stash. Keep an eye out for these types of gates as you make your way around the galaxy.
