Once you start going through the introductory phases ofFields of Mistria, you’ll eventually end up with a sword, a watering can, a hoe, an axe, and a pickaxe, but getting a hold of afishing rodisn’t as easy. Here’s how to get it fast.
Fields of Mistria: How to Get a Fishing Rod
Two Ways
As it stands, there are actually two ways to get a fishing rod inFields of Mistria.
The first way is to visit the blacksmith’s house in town and interact with theforgeoutside to open thesmithing menu. However, you might not be able to get the rod via this method simply because you don’t have access to the material needed to make the item, which isfour pieces of Copper Ingot—these are found in theMine, unlocked later in the story.
The second, easier method is to visit theTackle Shopon theBeach(south of Sweetwater Farm).
The shop will sell the cheapest model of the fishing rod, but hey, a fishing rod is a fishing rod. It’ll cost a nice chunk of change –500 Tesserae. If you’ve been a good citizen and completed the requests on the boards (like the Trail Mix quest), you should have enough for the tool.
How to Use the Fishing Rod to Catch Fish (Like Trout!)
Now that you own a rod, look for the fish in the water around town and cast the line near the fish. If you get the cast close enough, the fish will start to go towards it. Press the action button when the exclamation point pops up. There are also dive spots in the water that you can access, and sometimes fish will group into a single spot, allowing you to catch multiple fish one after the other.
When you do go fishing, keep an eye out for the size of the shadow in the water. If you’re on the hunt for an elusive fish, likeTrout, watch for shadows that are sort of medium-sized—not too big or not too small.
