Concordis getting compared toOverwatch 2a lot, and that is understandable. However, the games have a very different feel to them, withConcordbeing more likeQuakeorDestiny 2. This means the game needshealers that can hold their ownin a fight, being able to flip being a support and a damage dealer at any moment. However, some people feel the game still needs a Mercy character.
Dawfits this role perfectly, as they can use an ability to instantlydeploy a healing padwhich lets them get back to shooting. This pad can be used by their entire team, and they can plant multiple pads all around the map. Plenty of healing while still focusing on racking up kills.
How To Play As Daw In Concord
Daw doesn’t have any massive traversal tricks up his sleeve, likeplaying the rocketeering Haunt class, Roka. However, he is still a lot more mobile than the few single jumpingAnchorsof the game,Emari and 1-0ff.This mobility helpt to let him meet up with other members of his team to dispense healing, and to help cover them in a fight.
Moving As Daw
Daw is able to make use of a double jump, this lets him get over small ledged, or up onto large crates. Single jump characters may kill an opponent inTrophy Hunt, and then be powerless to get theBounty Cardas it is too high for them. Moving as Daw means running to where allies are to be the most effective in any and all of the game’s modes. Once you are grouped up with allies, you are able to be at your most useful. Daw also heals when he dodges, so dodging back behind cover can give a good chunk of health while being shot at.
Engaging Enemies As Daw
While it is best to fight as part of a group, you may be running towards your teammates when you cross paths with an enemy Freegunner. Daw will have aburst fire rifleas his primary weapon, so land well placed shots while backtracking. Once you have gone around a corner, look down and place a healing pad. Popping in and out of cover while constantly receiving healing. These bursts of healing will occur alongside other healing sources such as the healing from Daw’s dodge.
What Are Daw’s Abilities In Concord?
Daw has four abilities — one passive, two active, andone Combat Trait. His defining characteristics are being a medic — which he constantly reinforces when under fire.Concordhas a much larger focus on individual value for its characters, meaning no character is “just a support” and any healer focused character can top the damage charts of a match. Daw is Tactician class, meaning he will make use of deployable items — in this case, healing pads.
Healing Pad
This is the bread and butter of Daw, as the most value they can bring is to place these pads where they will restore as much health as possible to their team. Daw will have two charges of this ability when they spawn in, and if they run out of charges, they will need to hold down the ability button to recharge it. It took a while beforeOverwatch 2saw any kind of deployable healing structurewhen comparing the two games.
Safety Dome
Safety Dome is a double edged sword. It serves as a shield to protect Daw and his allies from incoming fire, but it also blocks all outgoing damage. This ability has a whopping 30 second cooldown, so players will need to be sure they are placing it in the ideal location for the situation their team faces.
Second Wind
This passive will restore some health to Daw whenever he dodges. This can help restore small pieces of health while preserving a healing pad for his destination. As well as recover health while ducking behind cover.
Intensive Care
This will be available for Daw Variant I, and will give his Healing Pads a larger pool of health to dispense before they deactivate. As the gamegets into more seasons, we will see many Variants with new Combat Traits.
Strategies For Daw In Concord
Healing Pads can be placed into a group of allies that are in a fire fight to keep topping them all up. However, Daw can also put it just before a corner so that allies can fire at enemies while still within the pad’s healing aura — with the pad itself safely placed behind cover.
Enemies will likely destroy any healing pads they come across, so it is always best to treat pads that you cannot see as destroyed. Just keep putting new ones wherever the action is happening. Using these pads enough can evenget two of the game’s trophies to unlock.
Safety Dome Strategy
The Safety dome may block all projectiles from both teams. However, it can still be an invaluable tactical tool. A lot of new players will just open fire on the dome, and once they reload, players can walk out to the other side and return fire safely.
As Daw, players should always leave a Healing Pan inside this dome, as it will allow any allies being chased the opportunity to move behind a protective barrier and start to heal up. Moving in and out of the barrier means ample healing, keeping eyes on enemies, and being able to deal out damage safely.
Fighting As A Medic
Many characters will have different ways of playingfor different game modes. When it comes to playing Lennox, players will use different strategies when opponents are on and off a zone. Daw on the other hand, plays into a specific strategy to be most effective. Daw will always want to group up at where his allies are located to back them up with burst fire damage. Helping to drop enemies that are already under fire.
This can rack up kills as well as open up a zone for a rush. He should always be placing his pads where they can give the most health to allies, but placing them in a spot that prevents them from being hit by enemy fire is even better. Play as a medic, and assist in kills. This will be the most effective way to play Daw and boost the team’s chances of victory.
