InAge of Mythology: Retold, gamers can jump into a game within seconds or they can take their time, go through every option available, and create a fully customized game. It’s never a bad idea to take a look at all the settings that can be modified, especially when they open up a wide range of possibilities and replay value, which is definitely the case inAge of Mythology.
This guide will walk players through the variousAge of Mythology: Retoldgame set-up options so they can play a game that matches their preferences.
Set Up Gameplay Preferences
Before setting up a skirmish, fans will want to tweak the Game options inAge of Mythology: Retoldso that once a match starts, it’ll immediately behave according to their preferences. From the Main Title Screen, gamers will want toopen the menu on the top right corner of the screen and select Settings.
In the Game tab, players can modify certain camera and notifications options butthe most important section here is the Gameplay section. Here, players can toggle the following options on and off:
In this menu, gamers can also select the default unit stance from aggressive to defense, no attack, or stand ground.
Scroll down below to the Other section to toggle auto-save on or off.
Set Up a Skirmish
Once gamers have modified Game settings inAge of Mythology: Retold, it’ll be time to set up a skirmish. There are three main option sections that players can change on the skirmish creation screen:

InAge of Mythology: Retold, there are three types of game types and five victory conditions:
Game type
Explore andcreate settlements to increase resources
Abundant resources
High-speed game
Victory condition
Eliminate all enemy units and buildings
Eliminate all enemies
King of the Hill
Fight to take control of a Plenty Vault in the center of the map for a set period of time
Eliminate all enemy Regents
Sudden Death
The starting Town Center is transformed into a Citaldel. If the player loses all Citadels, they lose the game
Game Preferences
Players can create chaotic maps with up to 12 players or chill out on a small map with a couple of defensive civilizations. It’s in the Game Preferences menu on the right side of the screen that fans can decide all of this crucial information for their next game.

Pantheon Selection
Lastly, gamers will have to choose the civilization that they’d like to command and which Pantheon they’d like to worship. More civilizations will be added to the game with upcoming DLC but for now, here is the Pantheon pool available inAge of Mythology: Retold:
Gamers can also press “Random All” to get a completely random Pantheon or “Custom Selection” and make their own pool of options before the game picks a random Pantheon for them.
In the Pantheon Selection screen, the remade deity portraits will appear but gamers can select theclassicAge of Mythologydeity portraitsif they have access to the DLC.
