As the leader of the Phantom Troupe, Chrollo Lucilfer has established himself as one of the most feared individuals inHunter x Hunter, although Hisoka seems rather fond ofChrollo and his Nen abilities. When Hisoka joins the Troupe, his reasoning for joining comes down to wanting to fight Chrollo, with the Troupe’s boss being an elite-level fighter. Hisoka’s admiration for the boss leads to Hisoka orchestrating the chaos in Yorknew City to set up a duel with Chrollo, no matter the cost.
After removing Kurapika’s Nen, Hisoka gets his wish, with the pair facing off at Heavens Arena, where Chrollo prevails, killing Hisoka in the process. Despite this, Hisoka revives himself, with the magician keen on setting up another playdate with Chrollo, where he can indulge himself even more.

Despite being a powerful and scary figure,Bisky is not put off by Hisoka’s antics, as the veteran hunter finds herself in awe of Hisoka and his appearance when they meet on Greed Island.
As Gon Freecs, Bisky, and Killua Zoldyck aim to collect all the cards on Greed Island, they recruit Hisoka to their cause, with their group going on to face off against Razor in an intense volleyball match. Together, the pair work side by side to help Gon and Killua claim a rare card they desire.
5Killua Zoldyck
Talented Assassin That Sees The Danger Hisoka Can Bring
At the beginning ofHunter x Hunter, Killua finds Hisoka a scary and powerful individual he has tried to steer clear of in his adventures with Gon, Leorio, and Kurapika. Despite this, the young assassin encounters the creepy magician on many occasions, with each meeting slowly increasing the bond between Killua and Hisoka. In the Hunter Exam and Heavens Arena arcs, Hisoka becomes the villain to Gon and Killua, often found to be getting in their way.
In the Greed Island arc, Killua recruits Hisoka to help acquire a rare card, with Gon,Killua, and Hisoka using teamwork and chemistry to succeed against Razor. Despite being suspicious of Hisoka and his motives, the pair have become more acquainted since their tumultuous beginnings, particularly with Hisoka being fond of Killua and his potential.

Chain User Who Teams Up With Hisoka In Yorknew City
As one of themost intelligent characters inHunter x Hunter, Kurapika is wary of the threat of Hisoka, although the pair become more friendly during the Yorknew City arc. Meeting at the hunter exam, Hisoka tells Kurapika of the upcoming Troupe mission, with Hisoka masquerading as a member.
When Kurapika takes on the Troupe, Hisoka offers his assistance, with both having differing motives for targeting the spiders. Despite their differing approaches, both have had their targets set on the Troupe, which is where their relationship finds common ground.

Troupe Member That Helps Hisoka When In Need Of Healing
Ofall the Troupe members, Machi is the closest to Hisokadespite her nonchalant attitude toward the ominous magician. First introduced after Hisoka’s match in Heavens Arena, Machi tends to Hisoka’s severed arm and battle scars, helping out her comrade.
When together, Hisoka finds Machi’s company pleasing, with the magician constantly making playful remarks despite Machi’s lack of care. After Chrollo’s victory against Hisoka in Heavens Arena results in Hisoka’s death, Machi goes to heal Hisoka’s body, honoring his wishes.

Gon Goes From Being Scared Of Hisoka To Being Comfortable Around Him
The main protagonist ofHunter x Hunter, Gon, initially finds Hisoka to be a scary individual, unlike any he has ever encountered. For the first three arcs ofHunter x Hunter, Hisoka acts as the villain to Gon, with their rivalry ending with Gon achieving his goal of handing Hisoka his hunter exam badge in their battle at Heavens Arena. As the story progresses, Gon begins to see Hisoka in a different light, with Gon using Hisoka as a teammate when competing for a card on Greed Island.
Of all the characters inHunter x Hunter, Hisoka has a fond fascination for Gon, with his potential and abilities as a Nen user appealing to Hisoka. When Illumi Zoldyck reveals Gon’s near-fatal condition afterhis exploits in the Chimera Ant arc, Hisoka appears concerned for Gon’s well-being, showing care for his young adversary.

Two Evil Individuals That Get Along
Besides Hisoka, Illumi is one of the most evil and cold individuals inHunter x Hunter. Therefore, it makes perfect sense that the pair get along on their journeys. At the hunter exam, where they first meet, Hisoka and Illumi easily breeze past the exam, becoming friends in the process. Later on in the Yorknew City arc,Hisoka recruits Illumi in order to enable his planof facing off against Chrollo, with Illumi taking a considerable risk to help Hisoka.
After the Chimera Ant arc, Illumi turns the tables on Hisoka by recruiting him to help eliminate Alluka Zoldyck despite the risks. While divulging Alluka’s story, Illumi and Hisoka’s conversation shows the pair’s friendly relationship as both are comfortable in each other’s company.
