TT Gameshas had a long and lucrative partnership with LEGO and its various collaborators. A studio mostly known for its work on many different Disney and Pixar movie tie-in games,TT Games' first foray into the world of LEGO came in 2005 with the release of the now-belovedLEGO Star Wars: The Video Game. With the release ofLEGO Star Wars: The Complete Sagain 2007, TT Games transitioned to working solely on LEGO titles, producing a total of 19 between then and now.

Those 19 have run the gamut of pop-culture, covering major franchises like Batman,Pirates of the Caribbean,Jurassic World,Indiana Jones, andLord of the Rings. TT Games has often double-dipped with its LEGO adaptations, delivering several games per franchise. Occasionally, that double-dip turns into a triple-dip, and that’s been the case with TT Games and Marvel. But it’s been seven years sincethe lastLEGO Marvelgame, and it’s about time the studio dipped in just one more time.

LEGO Marvel Superheroes Has Laid Some Strong Foundations

Released all the way back in 2013,the firstLEGO Marvel Superheroesgameholds up surprisingly well over a decade later. One of the few Marvel games to bring together the Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, and more,LEGO Marvel Superheroesstill feels like the full package, bringing 180 unlockable characters to the table along with a bevy of main and side missions that dive into all corners of the Marvel universe.LEGO Marvel Superheroeswas also one of the first LEGO games to feature an open-world, and its version of New York is packed to the brim with references and Easter eggs.

Four years later, TT Games took the solid foundations laid byLEGO Marvel Superheroesand turned them up to 11, delivering a sequel that may not technically be better but is certainly bigger.LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2contains 191 unique characters, and almost 300 if variants are included, covering even more of the Marvel universe’s more cosmic-related heroes and villains.

LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2’s open-world was also massively expanded, delivering a variety of locations from across time and space, including Hala, an apocalyptic Asgard, Attilan, Wakanda, and Nueva York. This is all packaged in a thrilling story that seesKang the Conquerorconnecting all these disparate locations and characters. It’s hard to imagine a Marvel game that would be more complete thanLEGO Marvel Superheroes 2.

LEGO Marvel’s Avengers Paves the Way for Another LEGO MCU Adaptation

Coming between the twoLEGO Marvel Superheroesentries,LEGO Marvel’s Avengersis often viewed as the black sheep of the LEGO Marvel video game family. Rather than go for one big open-world,LEGO Marvel’s Avengersdelivers several smaller hub areas, and rather than allow characters from all corners of the Marvel universe,LEGO Marvel’s Avengerssticks to its titular team and their related MCU movies, resulting in a pretty stretched-thin roster. That being said,LEGO Marvel’s Avengersis still a fun time, and though not all of its missions are perfect, it lays some strong foundations if TT Games ever wanted to adapt more of the MCU.

LEGO DC Super-Villains Paves a New Path Forward for LEGO Marvel

TT Games doesn’t need to just borrow from its own history with Marvel. Instead, TT Games could borrow fromLEGO DC Super-Villains' formula, and deliver a game centered around Marvel’s most iconic rogues. This game could also borrowLEGO DC Super-Villains' surprisingly extensive character-creator, as fans have sorely missed that feature in recent years.
