It’s no secret that many fans ofJackboxgames already play them in an adult way. While all previousJackbox Party Packsare teen-rated, often mature fans enjoy adding a spicy twist to their mini-games, and that’s precisely the audience that Jackbox Games is leaning toward with the creation of theirupcomingJackbox Naughty Pack. Adding three M-rated mini-games, theJackbox Naughty Packre-mixes fan-favorites Drawful and Fakin' It with the adult-themed Dirty Drawful and Fakin' It All Night Long. However, it also introduces a brand-new presentation game called Let Me Finish, challenging players to answer life’s super-serious questions like “Where is the mailbox’s butt?” Consequently, fans may be eager to know more about how Let Me Finish works and just how far the Naughty Pack pushes the envelope.
In a recent interview with Game Rant,Jackbox Games' CEO Mike Bilder explained how Let Me Finish works compared to previousJackboxgames. Bilder also discussed how far theJackboxNaughty Packpushes the boundaries and detailed the team’s approach to creating Jackbox’s first M-rated title.
Jackbox Naughty Pack Let Me Finish Game Explained
When asked what players can expect from Let Me Finish, Bilder mentioned it might seem familiar to those who’ve played previousJackboxgameslike Talking Points and Patently Stupid, albeit with the addition of “spicy content.” Bilder also summarized how Let Me Finish works as a presentation game that pairs multiple people against one another, as follows:
However, Bilder mentioned a key difference to previous popular mini-games like Quiplash:
“Unlike a Quiplash mechanic, for instance—which has a similar head-to-head thing—Let Me Finish allows the other players to jump in. If they get to vote on the two players, but if they have an entry, or they think they can be funnier, or they’ve got some unique take on it, they can basically choose to raise their hand, opt-in, and then they get to do the exact same exercise.”
Furthermore, Bilder added it becomes afunny gamenot only due to the new adult content but also because “people have very unique takes on things.”
How Far Jackbox’s Naughty Pack Pushes The Boundaries
TheJackbox Naughty Packis upfront about its M-rating and intended adult audience with its content warning of mature themes and explicit content. Bilder re-iterated that theNaughty Packembraces its stance as anadult-only game, something that’s clear from its marketing and advertising. When asked how far theNaughty Packpushes the boundaries, Bilder said “it’s spicy, is probably the best way to describe it,” but in a way that doesn’t try to be overly offensive. Bilder also talked about how the team was sensitive in their approach, including hiring sensitivity consultants:
“We don’t want to be vulgar or insensitive or do things to intentionally get a rise out of people. People call that punching down, right?
We don’t want to punch down, but we did want to embrace that it’s a mature-rated title, and the content that’s going to come out is for mature audiences. We used some sensitivity consultants to help us. We typically do that on all of our games.”
Overall, Bilder said everyone who worked on the title “is proud of it and doesn’t feel bad about what they worked on.” Of course, the definition of what’s offensive comes down to personal opinion. Ultimately, it’s up to players to heed theNaughty Pack’s content warning when planning their nextparty gamesand decide how far it pushes the boundaries for them.
