DCU chief James Gunn has finally broken his silence on the upcomingWonder Womanproject, making fans anxious about the character’s future in the franchise.
In January 2023, Gunn and Peter Saffran announced the first slate of DCU projects. Legendary comic book characters Superman and Batman will be reimagined for the screen. However, one iconic character who hasn’t turned out to be a prominent part of the DCU is Wonder Woman. As per DCU, the onlyWonder Womanproject to be announced is Paradise Lost, a series based on the character’s home of Themyscira. Many people believed the series was in production and might see an important update. Wekkm Gunn didn’t disappoint and gave an important update regarding the project.
Taking it toThreads, the DCU chief opened up about the series and answered a fan who wanted to know about DCU’s slate. A fan asked Gunn if Paradise Lost was still in production, to which, the filmmaker said that “nothing is in production” until it is greenlit. He went on to name all the projects that have been greenlit. However, he clarified that Paradise Lost and several other titles are still in “active development.” He said, “Nothing is “in production” unless it’s been greenlit.Right now, it’sSuperman, Supergirl, Penguin, Peacemaker, Lanterns, and a handful of animated projects. But Paradise Lost like many other titles known and unknown is still in very active development - it will be in production once we have a script or scripts we think are great and ready to shoot, never before.“Additionally, he also made it clear that no casting will be done until a project is green-lit.
Ever since Gunn announced the first slate of movies, fans have been excited to see how he was going to revive the entire franchise. He came forward with the first batch of titles they were planning to introduce in the DCU. Althoughit hasn’t been confirmed whether Gal Gadot will reprise her role as the Amazonian warrior, it is highly unlikely that she will portray the character in the newly launched DCU. With no names attached to the character, Gunn might cast a young Wonder Woman to show the character’s journey from the beginning.
