The Death And Return Of Kugisaki Nobara

Nobara is quite an exciting character in Jujutsu Kaisen and one that fans have enjoyed thoroughly over the years. Of course, her role in the story is very limited, despite being the main heroine of the series. Nobara was introduced to the fans right at the very beginning, and just like Yuji and Megumi, she was full of potential. She possesses a very unique technique that made her quite a pain for many enemies to fight. Fans saw this when she fought against the Death Paintings and even managed to deliver a powerful Black Flash, which suggested that she possessed incredible talent. Later down the line, in the Shibuya Arc, she showcased her worth once again, but the joy of her fans was short-lived, because during her fight against Mahito, she ended up losing her life.

It was he who made contact with her face using the Idle Transfiguration Technique and destroyed a significant portion of it. This attack was incredibly powerful and it essentially left her for dead. Many fans have believed that Nobara had essentially died. However, a proper confirmation of her death was never provided to the fans. While she did fall, the author actually opened up the door to her eventual return by stating that while the chances for her survival were low, they were not zero. Later down the line, before the Culling Game, Yuji asked Megumi about Nobara, and once again, no confirmation was given to the fans, although it was implied once again that she wasn’t alive either.

In the Shinjuku Showdown arc, which is the last arc of the series, fans have seen Yuji reminisce about Nobara in a way where it feels almost as if she has truly died. However, there was always a small room open for her return and it appears that the author of the story, Gege Akutami, has turned the tables and brought her back in JJK chapter 267. Fans are absolutely rejoicing with this return, given that she is a main character and deserves a bigger role in the story.

How Nobara Is A Big Problem For Sukuna

Nobara’s Straw Doll Technique Poses A Big Problem For Sukuna

In JJK chapter 267,Nobara marked her big return out of absolutely nowhere. In the previous chapter, fans saw Sukuna’s finger inside some sort of a shrine, tied up by ropes, and it was unclear as to where this finger was, and what was going on exactly. This week, it was confirmed that the finger belonged to none other than Sukuna, and the one that Rika ended up eating was actually Yuji’s very own finger. Meanwhile, Sukuna’s finger was close to where Nobara was, and she used the powers of her cursed technique on it, causing him immense pain and damage, even though the finger was nowhere near him.

She accomplished this through the power of resonance, which fans know is incredibly dangerous. Given that the finger belongs to Sukuna, there is a connection between this finger and his very own soul, and Nobara hitting it means that Sukuna is directly suffering from the inside. This, when combined with Yuji’s powers to hit soul damage ensures that Sukuna is on his last legs and that he is going to be defeated soon enough. Fans absolutely cannot wait to see his fall, and this time around, Nobara is chiming in as well.

Furthermore, Megumi has started fighting back as well, which means the next chapter is likely going to mark the end of the battle against Sukuna and conclude this final arc for good. Things are certainly not looking good for the King of Curses, and just by Nobara being on the battlefield, the tides have turned massively. Now,it is up to Nobara and Yuji to finish things off in an emphatic style, and from there onward, the series can then start focusing on wrapping things up in the remaining chapters.

For now, Jujutsu Kaisen still has four chapters left, which essentially means that every remaining plot line that the story has set up has to wrap up in these chapters. Of course, no matter what fans think, at the end of the day, the ending is going to be very rushed, but that is the decision that the author has taken, and at this point, wrapping up this battle as quickly as possible is the best outcome.

Was Nobara’s Return A Good Decision?

Nobara’s Return Is Cool, But Her Character Arc Suffered

When it comes to Nobara’s return, fans are absolutely delighted to see her back in the story once again. Over the years, fans were contemplating whether Nobara should return or not. For any main heroine, dying so early in the story and having such an inconsequential death is never good. In fact, the decision to kill off Nobara permanently was a rather strange one, and for this story to make any kind of sense, Nobara had to be alive. That is what we have mentioned in the past as well, and the position that is currently being maintained as well. Nobara had to return in the story, however, while a return is actually great, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it was handled well.

Nobara did not get to play any significant role in the story at all. Her character doesn’t stand on her own feet, and at the same time, she doesn’t really develop as an individual either. Nobara’s growth is stunted, and even though she might have grown much stronger since the last time fans saw her, none of it was actually shown to the fans. Her character has not changed a bit, and all this is down to the fact that Gege essentially cut her out of the story for the vast majority of the series, and just brought her back at the very end. For Nobara’s return to have made sense, she should have returned in the story about 70 to 80 chapters ago and then played a massive role in the Shinjuku Showdown Arc right from the get-go. A return is still a good decision, but the way that it was handled is certainly lackluster. At the very least, fans can be happy that Nobara will receive a happy endinginJujutsu Kaisen.

Jujutsu Kaisen is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of JJK, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 267, is set to be July 04, 2025.
