Announced as the next entry in theZeldaseries during a Nintendo Direct in mid-June, the new game is a dream come true for fans eager to see Princess Zelda as the main character. InEchoes of Wisdom, Princess Zelda must discover why rifts have begun appearing across Hyrule and where they are taking the inhabitants of the Kingdom, including Link.
Echoes of Wisdomwill feature unique gameplay never seen before in aZeldagame. To solve most puzzles, defeat enemies, and traverse across Hyrule, Zelda will use an ability to create Echoes, which are replicas of objects found in the game’s environment. It was previously believed that Echoes would be themain mechanic inEchoes of Wisdom, but according to a new trailer, that’s not all.
A five-minute overview trailer released on August 5 revealed that Princess Zelda will have two additionalpowers inEchoes of Wisdom, along with a four-legged friend to help her through her journey. The video also gives players plenty of information regarding the expansive lands they’ll be able to visit in the upcoming title, along with fun consumables and cosmetics set to appear, useful for gaining unique bonuses and special abilities. Notably, smoothie shops will appear throughout the game, tasking players with mixing specific ingredients to gain helpful buffs.
Beyond the ability to create Echoes, Zelda will also be able to useBind and Reverse Bond inEchoes of Wisdom. Bind forces an object or enemy to follow Zelda’s movements, making it possible to drop creatures off cliffs, dig up treasure, or remove items blocking a pathway. Reverse Bond works the other way around, making Zelda follow the object or enemy’s movements instead, allowing her to potentially fly or move faster. The possibilities are endless, especially if players combine Echoes with these abilities.
According to the overview trailer, fans will be able to visitfamiliar regions inEchoes of Wisdom, including the Gerudo Desert, Jabul Waters, Eldin Volcano, and Goron City. To make getting around easier, Zelda can summon her trusty horse by using a carrot, and upon reaching new areas, fast travel points will become available.The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdompromises to be a whimsical addition to an ever-growing library ofZeldatitles when it releases on Jul 12, 2025.
