Deadpool & Wolverinecertainly oozes fan service in all the right ways, but there are still some questions that audiences might have when the credits roll. As the age of Mutants begins in the MCU thanks to the first Marvel Studios movie to feature Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, plenty of questions are left unanswered which might have some fans guessing as to where the franchise goes next.
WhilstDeadpool & Wolverineis omega-level mutant levels of fun, there are some consequences and repercussions that might have an effect on the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the years to come, and audiences can merely speculate and collaborate to uncover unresolved mysteries.
7Are There Mutants in the Sacred Timeline?
The X-Men Have Still Not Debuted in the Sacred Timeline
Earth-616 is known as the Sacred Timeline in the MCU. Whilst audiences have seen many of the Avengers and other Marvel heroes running around, there has never been direct mention of the mutants and the X-Men. Whilst the age of Mutants has begun withDeadpool & Wolverine, it still doesn’t answer that lingering question that has been around for years: where are they?
Marvel Studios is working on anX-Menmovie, butDeadpool & Wolverinedoesn’t explain their absence in the MCU. Are they in hiding or do they not exist in the Sacred Timeline? It would seem weird that the X-Men have existed all this time with little to no mention.

Deadpool May Die in a Distant Future Avengers Movie
A potential teaser for a new Avengers movie includes Thor played by Chris Hemsworth cradling what seems to be a dying Deadpool. Seeing the two together is made for a humorous and shocking turn of events, and it could directly tease Deadpool’s importance in an upcomingAvengersmovie where he gets tofight alongside the God of Thunder.
Deadpool dreams about this moment a few times, and it’s obviously on his mind, especially when being an Avenger means so much to him. Having Thor hold him in what seems to be his last moments is something that will stick with fans until they get to see the two in anAvengersmovie.
5If Logan (2017) Is Canon To Deadpool’s Timeline, Does That Mean All Mutants Will Die?
Mutants Were Seen As Near Extinct By 2029
When Paradox is giving a hefty exposition in the TVA about Deadpool’s world, he mentions that each universe has an anchor and that theanchor for Deadpool’s world is Wolverine. When an anchor dies, the universe will slowly unravel for thousands of years, meaning that time becomes finite when an anchor dies, and it’s only so long before it’s nothingness.
As such, it raises the question of what’s canon in Deadpool’s universe. Wolverine died inLogan(2017), but in that movie, there are no more Mutants. Logan takes place in 2029, so does that mean within the next 5 years of Deadpool’s timeline all the remaining Mutants are going to just get wiped out?
4Who Is The Sacred Timeline’s Anchor?
The TVA States That Each Universe Has Their Own Marvel Jesus
Since each timeline has an anchor to keep its universe stable and stop it from unraveling into non-existence, fans must be wondering who is the anchor for the Sacred Timeline. There have been many iconic Marvel characters over the years, and only a handful of them are playing about the MCU. It raises the question of who the MCU’s anchor could be.
Could it be Spider-Man? Peter Parker is of immense importance to fans and the comics, but it might be a tad risky to have Sony’s Spider-Man be the central piece of the MCU. What if it’sthe original MCU character, Iron Man? He’s already dead, so does that mean the MCU is on a time limit?
3Why Was A Multiverse Of Deadpools Pruned To The Void?
The Deadpool Corps proves that Deadpool is a thorn in the multiverse’s side. As funny as it is to have anunlimited supply of Deadpools, it also raises the question of just what they all do to end up in the Void. There’s an abundance of Deadpools, far more than any other character. Do they get pruned to the Void for being annoying or is there another reason?
It seems worrisome that all of these Deadpools were pruned because their universes were dying. It raises the question of how many universes were destroyed before the self-proclaimed Marvel Jesus Deadpool decided to stir the pot. How come they all work together andhate everything?
2Are Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds the MCU’s Deadpool and Wolverine?
The MCU Has Deadpool and Wolverine, Albeit, in a Separate Universe
The MCU still doesn’t have a new name and face attached to their cast of Mutants and X-Men. Whilst audiences are aware that anX-Menmovie from the MCU is in the works, it’s still not clear where Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds will be for all of this. They have their own timeline, so does that meanMarvel will only knock on their doorwhen it’s time to open the multiverse for them to play with a larger world?
Deadpool’s worlddoesn’t have the Avengers, and they would need to be transported to 616’s Sacred Timeline to be a part of the action. Does this mean that the duo is reserved for a big movie, if that’s the case, then they aren’t the main Deadpool and Wolverine of the MCU, which is something that needs answering considering how big Wolverine as a character is.
1Did X-23 From The Logan Universe Get Pruned?
Is Dafne Keen’s Laura From a Familiar Timeline or a Variation of it?
One of the biggest surprises inDeadpool & Wolverineis Dafne Keen’s X-23 making a return. Last seen at the grave of the Wolverine in the ending ofLogan(2017), this is a character whose future was never explored, butDeadpool & Wolverineprovides glimpses into the hero she was meant to be. Yet, if this is the same variant fromLogan, then why would she have gotten pruned in the first place?
Elektra does state that they prune heroes of dying universes so they do not put up a fight, but why would they prune Laura and not just let her universe slowly die, especially if she’s from Deadpool’s universe in the future? It must be the same timeline too, as she wears the same sunglasses and backpack as seen in Logan. She must have been in the Void for a while too, so for how long after Logan was she in North Dakota before entering the Void?
