Lollipop Chainsaw RePOPwill be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, not only to the previously announced current-gen platforms. This is excellent news for last-gen console owners who loved the original game and are excited aboutLollipop Chainsaw RePOP.
The originalLollipop Chainsawwas a hack-and-slash action game released by Grasshopper Manufacture in 2012. The game featured a cheerleader called Juliet Starling, who used a chainsaw to hack away hordes of zombies.Lollipop Chainsawsold over a million units, becoming the developer’s most financially successful title. Around the game’s 10th anniversary in 2022, Dragami Gamesannounced a remaster ofLollipop Chainsaw.
Now, Dragami Games president Yoshimi Yasuda revealed thatLollipop Chainsaw RePOPwill also be released for PS4 and Xbox One. Previously,Lollipop Chainsaw RePOPwas confirmed for PC, Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S with a September 25 release. Yasuda explained, however, that these last-gen game editions will be available sometime during November 2024.
Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Will Be Available For PS4 and Xbox One in November
Considering thatLollipop Chainsawwas originally released for PS3 and Xbox 360, and the current generation is still not widely adopted by all gamers, selling the game on last-gen consoles makes sense. It’s not yet clear, however, if the previously announcedCollector’s Edition ofLollipop Chainsawwill be available on PS4 and Xbox One. This edition costs $150, and it comes with several goodies, including a 10-inch Juliet Starling statue, a keychain of Nick Carlisle’s head, one “Chop2Shop.Zom” sticker, the San Romero Knights High School Medal, and the game’s official art book.
Despite not being a full remake,Dragami Games has confirmed several features forLollipop Chainsaw RePOPaside from visual improvements. The remaster will have improved camera and input response, increased movement speeds, several rebalanced or tweaked abilities, Max Ammo for the Chainsaw Blaster, and more. Most of these changes will likely make the game more user-friendly and accessible, potentially turning it into a friendlier experience for larger audiences other than old-school fans.
Curiously,Lollipop Chainsaw RePOPwill also have four different voice options for Juliet. The protagonist will be voiced in both Japanese and English, receiving a new Japanese dub in the remaster, but keeping the original voices for fans who want it. In the original release, Juliet Starling was played by Tara Strong in the English dub, and by Eri Kitamura and Yoko Hikasa in the Japanese version of the game. Now, Yukari Tamura, who also voiced Tenten inNarutoand Qiqi inGenshin Impact, will be available as the new voice of Juliet.
