Summary
Minecraftfans online are debating which of the game’s mobs should receive a visual update from developer Mojang in the future. Mojang has added a ton of different mobs toMinecraftover the years, with some long overdue a visual refresh.
Minecraftrecently celebrated its 15th anniversary, a huge milestone for any title still so popular among gamers. Some of the mobs present in the current game have been featured inMinecraftsince launch without any form of visual update. The game’s simplistic art style, combined with many gamers choosing to use visual mods forMinecraft, has ensured that Mojang has never really had to update the visuals of these mobs in any big way. Now, 15 years after its release, some fans are calling for some mobs to finally get a fresh coat of paint.
Redditor Realistic-Tap4156 started the discussion online, showcasing the previousMinecraftmobvisual updates to the bat and the vex, as well as a concept image for a potential rabbit update. According to the user, they believe that the rabbit has “a bland and out of date looking model compared to newer more detailed mobs.” Some agreed that the rabbit should receive a visual update, even if this particular concept feels too detailed forMinecraft.
Minecraft Fans Want Some Older Mobs to Get an Update
There were plenty of otherMinecraftfans in the thread making their feelings heard about potential mob updates. One gamer went simple, pointing out that “Pigs, cows, chickens, and sheep are all in dire need of a revamp,” and, while iconic, are “13-15 years old at this point.” It definitely makes sense -Minecrafthas added so many more detailed mobs in the years since launch, that the original designs can stand out at this point. It would be a shame to lose them, but it’s unlikely that Mojang would stay away from updating the older designs for nostalgic reasons alone. Another gamer had a fascinating idea to update theMinecraftCreeper, suggesting, “It should change color to blend in with whatever biome it’s in.”
Even if no official mob update is on the horizon forMinecraft, there’s plenty for fans to enjoy with the game right now. Mojang continues to release new content to keep the game feeling fresh, with therecentMinecraftTricky Trials updatebeing the biggest in a long time. Although the studio has yet to talk about its next major patch, it hopefully won’t be long until players find out what Mojang has planned for fans going forward.
