Player Mistakes
Back to All Characters
Kachina, the newest 4-star Geo sub-DPS from Natlan, is a versatile and intriguing addition to theGenshin Impactroster. As players venture into the fiery region of Natlan, they will encounter fresh mechanics and characters that bring new layers of strategy to the game. Kachina stands out for her ability to support Geo-based teams, offering a herself as a free alternative to othersub-DPS characters like Albedo and Chiori.
However, with Kachina’s introduction, there are several aspects of her gameplay that players might not immediately grasp, especially given the new mechanics in Natlan. This guide will highlight some common mistakes to avoid when using Kachina, ensuring that players can fully leverage her abilities and contribute effectively to their teams inGenshin Impact.
5Not Understanding Her Nightsoul Blessing State
InGenshin Impact, characters typically enhance their utility or DPS through diverse resources like Stamina, HP, or special mechanicssuch as the Bond of Life. The Natlan region, however, introduces fresh gameplay elements that require precise management, namely Nightsoul points and Phlogiston Mechanics. These new systems are crucial for the functioning of Natlan characters, introducing an added layer of intricacy to their gameplay -unlike mechanics like Arkhe- which ended up not being such a prominant aspect for Fontainian characters except for exploration.
For Kachina, maintaining her Nightsoul Blessing state is crucial for maximizing her Turbo Twirly’s uptime, as it persists even when she’s not on the field. To activate this state, players should use her Elemental Skill, which grants Nightsoul points that gradually deplete over time. Therefore, the key to effective play is to refresh her Elemental Skill whenever it’s off cooldown (every 20 seconds) and then switch to another character. This straightforward approach ensures that Kachina’s Turbo Twirly remains active and continues to deal DMG and apply Geo even when she’s off-field.
4Underestimating Her Best Artifact Set
With the release of the 5.0 patch and the introduction of the Natlan region, two new artifact sets have been added, typically setting the standard for characters from the region (As previous region’s first sets of artifacts did so as well), particularly those debuting in this update and the ones upcoming in the near future. For Kachina, one of these new sets, the Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City, stands out as exceptionally effective. This set is particularly powerful for Natlan characters, offering a unique advantage by significantly boosting elemental damage in ways that Geo characters might not traditionally achieve.
To make the most of this artifact set, it’s best used on a Natlan support or sub-DPS character, as it provides up to a 40% Elemental DMG bonus to all team members, given that their abilities are involved in reactions related to the equipping character’s element. This effect is especially beneficial for characters of the same element, amplifying their damage output considerably. With that being the case, it’s recommended that players should focus on prioritizing farming for these 2 artifact sets, as they will be potentially useful forother support or sub-DPS Natlan charactersthat will join the roster soon as well.
3Not Making Good Use of Crystallize Reaction
While Crystallize may be considered one of the less impactful reactions inGenshin Impactin terms of power and utility, its role becomes more significant for Kachina due to the Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City artifact set. Although Kachina does not have a specific mechanic centered aroundCrystallize like Navia does, this artifact set’s 4-piece bonus requires triggering elemental reactions to activate its effects. Characters involved in these reactions, including Kachina, will benefit from the increased Elemental DMG bonus provided by the set.
In practice, this means that to maximize Kachina’s and her team’s Geo DMG (and other relevant elements), players should aim to trigger Crystallize. In teams with Navia, who can easily generate Geo Shards, this becomes more straightforward. However, in mono-Geo setups, such as those featuring Itto, it’s essential to include another element character to benefit from the artifact set’s effects, especially if the enemy isn’t applying elemental effects on their own.
2Leveling Kachina’s Basic Attack
With the materials from Natlan not being available for pre-farming until the 5.0 patch, players will face a scarcity of resources for upgrading talents, including both talent books and enemy drops. Given Kachina’s role as a sub-DPS who relies heavily on her Elemental Skill, it is advisable for players to prioritize their resource allocation wisely. Specifically, it is recommended to avoid leveling Kachina’s Basic Attack entirely, as it will not play a significant role in her damage output.
While her Elemental Burst is more crucial than her Basic Attack, it should still be considered a lower priority compared to her Elemental Skill. By focusing on leveling her Elemental Skill first, players can maximize her effectiveness as a sub-DPS and make the most efficient use of their limited resources at the beginning.
1Not Using Her For Natlan Exploration
With the introduction of Natlan in version 5.0, players are greeted with new exploration mechanics, including the use of adorable dinosaur-like buddies to enhance traversal across the region. Among the first set of characters, Kachina, Mualani, and Kinich offer unique advantages that cater to their respective exploration roles. While these benefits might not drastically disadvantage players who do not include these characters in their party, they can still make exploration more efficient and enjoyable.
Kachina, in particular, excels in land-based exploration.Much like Kirara, who’s climbing and movement speed is boosted when she’s in her unique state, players can hold Kachina’s Elemental Skill to make Kachina ride Turbo Twirly, which significantly enhances her movement speed and reduces stamina consumption. This makes traversing the terrain much smoother compared to sprinting or climbing. Additionally, Kachina’s passive talent allows her to restore 20 stamina when interacting with certain harvestable items where Phlogiston Mechanics are present. Furthermore, Kachina’s ability to display nearby Natlan local specialties on the mini-map helps players efficiently locate these materials, ensuring they don’t miss out on valuable resources needed for upgrading Natlan characters.
