Summary
At launch,Mortal Kombat 1’s roster was fairly strong, boasting a total of 23 fighters that celebrated the franchise’s entire history. Along with staples like Liu Kang, Scorpion, and Sub-Zero,Mortal Kombat 1’s base game roster also shipped with lesser-known Kombatants from the series' 3D era, like Nitara and Ashrah. But despite the strong line-up, some fan-favorites were still missing, and that led to a lot of speculation about who should be included inMortal Kombat 1’s DLC.
Even beforeMortal Kombat 1had announced any of its line-up, leakers had uncovered the game’s first wave of DLC fighters, correctly predicting thatThe Boys' Homelander, Peacemaker, andInvincible’s Omni-Man would all be included in Kombat Pack 1. And long before that first wave of DLC launched, rumors surrounding a potential Kombat Pack 2 hit the internet. With the recent announcement ofMortal Kombat 1’s Khaos Reigns DLCand the game’s second Kombat Pack, it’s interesting to see which characters made the final cut. WhileTerminator 2’s T-1000,Scream’s Ghostface, and even Conan the Barbarian were all leaked months ago, there are many rumored fighters who aren’t showing up in Khaos Reigns.
Every Leaked Fighter Who Isn’t in Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns
All the way back in July 2023, leaker Idle Sloth took to Twitter to claim that they had heard rumors surroundingMortal Kombat 1’s then-unannounced Kombat Pack 2. At this time, NetherRealm had only just confirmed the contents of Kombat Pack 1, so many fans were skeptical that any information regarding a second Kombat Pack would be available already. It turns out fans were right to take the leak with a pinch of salt, as it largely ended up being false. This first Kombat Pack 2 leak claimedDC’s Harley Quinn and Deathstroke,Doom’s Doomslayer, and Kano, Sareena, and Noob Saibot would all be included in the DLC. Noob Saibot was the only correct prediction.
Back in September 2023, renownedMortal Kombatleaker Thethiny delivered another handful of Kombat Pack 2 predictions and rumors. This leak was far more accurate than those that came before it, with Thethiny correctly predictingCyrax, Noob, Sektor, Ghostface, Conan, and T-1000. But this leak also contained Cassie Cage, Kung Jin, and Jade. In all fairness, Thethiny did specifically state that this line-up could change at any time.
Every Kameo Fighter Who Isn’t in Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns
As things currently stand,Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reignsand its included second Kombat Pack will not feature any Kameo fighters. It’s unclear if NetherRealm will add any more Kameo fighters at a later date, thoughNetherRealm’s Ed Boondoes repeatedly tease new ones on Twitter and post polls asking fans who they’d like to see as a Kameo fighter inMK1. Before Khaos Reigns' announcement, 10 different Kameo fighters were rumored to appear in the DLC:
WhenMortal Kombat 1’s Kameo fighterswere first announced, they seemed like the perfect way to incorporate some of the franchise’s more bizarre characters, and fighters who otherwise don’t quite deserve a full spot on the roster. It’s a shame that no new Kameo fighters will be included withMortal Kombat 1’s second Kombat Pack, especially with so many great options having been leaked over the last year or so.
