Summary

One of the standout things about anime is usually the characters. The medium of anime gives space to create types of characters and personalities that might not work with any other medium. This is also the case withthe creation of isekai villains.

Isekai is a varied form of media, and some don’t even feature villains at all. Of the villains who exist, not many are truly impressive, and even fewer can make the viewer’s blood boil, but there are some who can do so with ease. Here are someisekai villains who are incredibly easy to hate.

Tanya is the main character fromYoujo Senki: Saga of Tanya the Evil. She is actually a salaryman who gets killed in 2013 and, thanks to the machinations of ‘Being X,’ is transported to an isekai world. Here,Tanya is presented as a girl, but her diabolical nature means she fits right into the military and, by the age of nine, has already been promoted to second lieutenant.

Tanya is a very divisive character, as she was well-liked by many for her defiance and her tactical ability. However, she was not without her detractors, who considered her pretty edgy and nasty. She’s a psychopath, and her lack of empathy doesn’t endear her to everyone. There’s also the fact that many couldn’t get past the whole grown man in a little girl’s body that was going on, and it has put some off the character.

Dilandau is, like Tanya, a pretty divisive character that people either love or hate. He is one of the antagonists ofThe Vision of Escaflowneand acts as a commander of Zaibach’s pilots. He is incredibly complex and hasone of the saddest backstories for an isekai villain.

That said, he was still a major part of the destruction of Fanelia and is mean to his subordinates. Even a whole episode was named after him: ‘The Diabolical Adonis.’ That just shows how problematic of a character he was. Sure, many fans were able to start liking him once they understood his backstory, but many also couldn’t forget all the nastiness he had already exhibited.

Gods and Goddesses are a traditional part of isekai, as they are often responsible for the protagonist going from one world to another. The Goddess inTsukimichimade herself hated almost from the get-go via her treatment of the protagonist, a character who did nothing wrong; he was simply not up to her preferences.

For this, she threw him into the most disadvantageous position and tried to mess with him on more than one occasion. She also unfairly favors the Hyumans and doesn’t care at all for any of the other creatures. This has made the Hyumans tyrants and resulted in them being an enemy to all the other races. Even the race she claims to love, she only causes problems for.

The only way to describe Petelguese is that he is insane. He is one of the Sin Archbishops connected to sloth. He was also one of the major antagonists ofRe:Zero, andhe really gave Subaru a hard time.

It was revealed that he was actually acquainted with Emilia when she was younger but went insane after taking in the Witch Factor of Sloth. He generally doesn’t have any redeeming factor, and even if he could be forgiven for everything, most viewers would never forgive the fact that he killed Rem.

There are some truly vile characters in anime, but some of the most terrible are those with a certain proclivity for harassment. Many willnever forgive Griffith for what he did to CascainBerserk, and Sugou was close to doing the same thing inSword Art Online.

The main antagonist of the Fairy Dance arc, Sugou, had earlier been selected to marry Asuna. His meddling caused 300 players to become imprisoned by him, and he was ready to kill Kirito both in the game and in real life. Watching him get his comeuppance was one of the most satisfying things from the anime.

While Season 2 ofRising of the Shield Herowasn’t received overly well, the first season was actually quite good. That said, it was also somewhat controversial, which was largely due tothe actions of Malty, otherwise known as Myne.

She lied about Naofumi assaulting her and was the cause of the hero’s banishment from the kingdom. Her lie more or less made Naofumi the character he became, and his treatment of other characters can be traced to his experience with Myne. She was also shown to be manipulative and willing to do whatever it took to get what she wanted. She eventually faces the consequences of her actions, but forgiving her for what she did would be an incredibly difficult task.
