AsGenshin Impacttransitions into the Natlan region with the 5.0 update, one of the characters players will be able to obtain isMualani, an impressivenew 5-star Hydro DPS character, with a power matching ofNeuvillette’s. Her unique kit, featuring new mechanics for combat and exploration specific to Natlan characters, allows her to deal consistent and powerful Hydro damage, making her a versatile addition to any team.

Considering her role as a main DPS, when building a team around Mualani, it’s crucial to maximize her Hydro DPS potential by pairing her with characters who can support and enhance her damage. Mualani excels in teams where she can consistently trigger Hydro-based reactions, in particular Vaporize. Additionally, Burn-Vape and Mono-Hydro team compositions are also viable options for her. Here’s the best team compositions for Mualani inGenshin Impact, while showcasing as many different character options as possible.

Mualani + Xiangling + Kazuha + Zhongli

A standard Vaporize team composition for Mualani focuses on amplifying her slower but powerful Hydro attacks with consistent Pyro application, enabling the Vaporize reaction for massive damage. Unlike Neuvillette, whose fast-paced attacks make it challenging to set up Vaporize reactions effectively, Mualani’s slower and stronger hits are perfectly suited for this reaction, making it a highly effective choice for maximizing her DPS output.

In this team composition, Mualani serves as the main DPS, dealing heavy Hydro damage and triggering Vaporize reactions withXiangling’s Pyro application through her Elemental Skill and Burst, while Kazuha as the Anemo support, offering crowd control and elemental resistance shredding through his Swirl reactions, while also helping with Elemental application on an AoE setting. Lastly,Zhonglifurther decreases the enemies RES, while also providing a shield. Alternative options likeDehyacan replaceXiangling for Pyro application, orSucrosecan replace Kazuha if players don’t have access to him.

Team Roles

Mualani + Emilie + Thoma + Sigewinne

A Burn-Vape team composition built around Mualanileverages the Burning reaction, followed by powerful Vaporize attacks, creating a synergy that enhances Mualani’s Hydro damage output. This composition takes advantage of the unique interaction between Dendro and Pyro to set up continuous burning, which then applies consistent Pyro, which Mualani can capitalize on with her consistent Hydro attacks.

In this team setup, Mualani remains the main DPS,Emilie, the Dendro applicator, who is also highly suitable for Burning reaction when combined with a suitable Pyro applier, which in this case will beThoma. To add on to the Hydro Resonance, as well as a healer spot,Sigewinneworks very well, especially considering that she can even work as a sub-DPS if build in a specific way. For those looking to adjust the team,Nahida can replace Emilie as the Dendro enabler. Similarly, Xiangling or Dehya can replace Thoma for a more aggressive Pyro application. If more healing or a buffer is needed, Sigewinne can be swapped for Kokomi for reliable Hydro application and healing, orBennett, who provides healing and an attack boost but sacrifices some of the reaction consistency due to the lack of continuous Hydro application. However, this essentially should not be a problem, since Mualani can apply Hydro consistently on her own. In fact, this approach could prevent other Hydro Characters in the team to steal some of the Vape reactions from Mualani, as it would be the case with some options likeFurina.

Mualani + Furina + Kazuha + Kokomi

A Mono Hydro team composition centered around Mualani focuses on amplifying Hydro damage through synergy and support from other Hydro characters, bypassing the need for Vaporize reactions. This setup, while more 5-star heavy and requiring higher investment to match the raw power of a Vape team, still offers a formidable and consistent damage output.

In this team, Mualani once again serves as the primary DPS, while Furina acts as a support and sub-DPS, enhancing the team’s overall Hydro damage through her Elemental Skill and Burst while also providing buffs, or potentially healer. Kazuha plays a crucial role as an Anemo support, grouping enemies with his crowd control abilities and shredding their Hydro resistance with his Elemental Skill and Burst, further boosting Mualani’s damage. Kokomi takes on the role of healer and another Hydro applier, while ensuring that characters remain over 50% to get the most benefit out of Furina’s kit. For those looking for a less premium options, Furina can be replaced byXingqiu, who offers excellent Hydro application and defensive utility with his Elemental Burst. Kazuha can be swapped out forJeanorSucrose. Kokomi on the other hand can be replaced by other Hydro users likeSigewinne,MonaorCandaceif necessary.
