The patch officially rolled out on August 1 and also makes adjustments to a few fan-favoriteMultiVersuscharacters, several of which have been buffed or nerfed.
Originally hitting digital storefronts as a beta in 2022,MultiVersusquickly made an impact on the fighting game scene thanks to its satisfying gameplay and visual style. However,MultiVersus' greatest strength is arguably its list of fighters, with the game adding everyone from DC’s Harley Quinn to Arya Stark fromGame of Thrones. Developed by Player First Games and published by Warner Bros. Interactive,MultiVersushas access to an incredible number of classic, world-famous characters. The sheer depth of content for the devs to choose from has fans constantly theorizing who could make their way onto the roster next.
MultiVersus’August 1 update brings several changes, most notably tweaks to how characters like Arya Stark, Harley Quinn, Iron Gian, LeBron James, Morty, Reindog, and Stripe function. Characters like Iron Giant, Arya, and Morty have had their on-whiff cancel window delayed, while Stripe has been buffed considerably, receiving an addition of 14 frames to his cancel window after shooting its final shot.MultiVersus' new ranked modehas also been changed to be best-of-three matches.
Notably, Reindog, an original charactercreated and designed specifically forMultiVersus, received a fix for his ground-side special movie. Previously, the on-hit and on-whiff cancel windows were flipped, but this issue has been fixed inMultiVersus' 1.2.1 patch. An issue affecting Iron Giant has also been addressed that allowed players piloting the rage mode turret to perform other actions while piloting.
MultiVersus' roster is already incredibly exciting, but its list of characters continues to grow in unexpected ways.
