Player First Games released several updates in the first season, such asMultiVersus Patch 1.04, which addressed the disconnection issues for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners. The mid-season update, a landmark moment for competitive games, was the debut of Agent Smith inMultiVersus, as well as the Spectator and Free-For-All modes. NowMultiVersuswelcomes a new season and reveals what players can expect from the fighting game in the coming months.

New MultiVersus Update Has Fans Wanting to Save the Game

MultiVersushas shared the patch notes for Season 2, which are now available to all players. The big news of the new season is the debut of Samurai Jack inMultiVersus, bringing one of the most beloved Cartoon Network characters. Players can get the fighter by purchasing theMultiVersusSeason 2 battle pass, unlocking him in the first tier. Meanwhile, Jason and Agent Smith can be bought for 6000 Fighter Currency or 1000 Gleamium, and the Joker is available for 3000 Fighter Currency. Season 2 also brings the new Water Tower map, a classicAnimaniacslocation.

Another big Season 2 feature is the addition of theRanked Mode toMultiVersus. Players will have access to competitive play when their accounts reach hit 5 and will be able to jump into 2v2 or 1v1 matches. Ranked matches are best-of-three sets in which teams with the same characters are not allowed.MultiVersusplayers will have six ranks to climb; Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Master, and each rank is composed of five divisions.MultiVersusplayers will receive banners and variant skins for each rank achieved, with the rewards being distributed at the end of the season.

SinceMultiVersus' comeback earlier this year, Player First Games has been working a lot to make the game even more balanced and engaging for its community by adjusting fighters or listening to feedback. With Season 2,MultiVersusadds Beetlejuice, another beloved character, who will be joining the fray at a later date. The arrival of Ranked Mode, which gives more competitive players the chance to measure their skills, and an overhaul ofMultiVersusevents will improve progression and rewards. This way, both competitive and casualMultiVersusplayers will have something to look forward to in the new season.

Events

Combat Changes

We are looking at combat mechanics across the cast with an intent to reward more offensive gameplay. Several attacks have been updated to work better as combo starters, and we have adjusted ground jumps to allow for easier aerial approaches. We expect to have more changes to share in the midseason patch.

We are also updating the language in our patch notes. Previous patch notes have used the term “branch window” to describe the period of time where a player can input a new action to interrupt a fighter animation before it has completed. From now on patch notes will refer to this period as a “cancel window”

Note: Attacks callouts reference default controls.

Agent Smith

Agent Smith had a successful early introduction into the multiverse. We are looking to tone down his most toxic loops while giving him some quality-of-life changes to keep him feeling fresh for anyone looking to purchase him in season 2.

Air/Ground Neutral Special

Iron Giant

Iron Giant has had his time in the shop but he still remains a menace in PvP games. His defensive tools feel a little overbearing right now, so we’re looking to tweak his hurtboxes and increase his received hitstun so he feels more like a normal fighter at low damages. Hopefully with a slightly weaker defense he will feel more in line with the rest of the cast.

Rage Mode Air/Ground Side Special

Jake

We still feel like Jake has not been performing up to his potential in PvP. We will look to address this more with our midseason update, but for now we wanted to give him a few new tools to help him out.

Ground Dash Attack

Air Neutral Attack 2 is now Air Neutral Attack, Neutral Special Follow-Up

Morty

Morty has a strong reliance on his ground side special that promotes a very campy gameplan. We wanted to reduce the power of his ground side special while giving him some quality-of-life buffs to see how he performs with better close-range tools.

Air Neutral Attack

Taz

Taz has seen a lot of play due to a limited number of overpowered tools. We want to see more diversity of attacks in Taz gameplay, so we’ve limited the power of his more abusive attacks like ground up attack and ground neutral attack, while buffing some of his less-used attacks to give him a more balanced game plan.
