Summary

MultiVersushasn’t quite had the triumphant return it was probably hoping for. After going offline in June 2023 following a fairly successful Beta period,MultiVersusreappeared back in May of this year, where it was heavily criticized for tweaking established features and increasing monetization. But developer Player First has tried its best to fix a lot ofMultiVersus' most apparent issues over the last few months and has tried to keep the game alive with consistent character releases.

Adventure Time’s Banana Guard,Friday the 13th’s Jason Voorhees, DC’s Joker, andThe Matrix’s Agent Smith have all been added toMultiVersussince its return in May. The most recent season ofMultiVersusbrought Samurai Jack to the game, and just a few days ago,Michael Keaton’s Beetlejuice was added to the roster. It seems like Player First is still dedicated to supportingMultiVersuswith new characters, and a recent leak could suggest that Harry Potter and Barbie are next up to bat.

New MultiVersus Update Has Fans Wanting to Save the Game

The Harry Potter and Barbie MultiVersus Leaks Explained

Towards the end of July, Twitter user AusilMV posted a series of screenshots to the social media platform that were allegedly taken from leakedMultiVersusfiles. Many of these screenshots showed stages that appeared to be very early in development. One of these stages seemed to be based onHarry Potter, while the other was based onlast year’sBarbiemovie.

The leakedHarry Potterstage showed a simple floating platform with two large broomsticks hovering in the air at each side of the arena. Four grainy flags – colored red, green, blue, and yellow – were hung at the bottom of the stage, seemingly representingthe four Hogwarts Houses. The leakedBarbiemovie stage featured a large pink structure and a winding pink slide attached to the central platform, looking very similar to the movie’s version of Barbie’s Dreamhouse.

It should be noted that fans can no longer see these leaks for themselves on AusilMV’s Twitter page, as the account has been suspended.

What These Barbie and Harry Potter Leaks Could Mean for MultiVersus' Future

All leaks should always be taken with a big pinch of salt, but if there’s any truth to theserecentMultiVersusHarry PotterandBarbierumors, then it could mean some big things for a futureMultiVersusseason. At the very least, these leaks suggest that a Hogwarts stage and a Barbie Dreamhouse stage could be coming toMultiVersusin the near future, and it doesn’t seem likely they’d appear alone.

Though these leakedHarry PotterandBarbiestages had no references to specific characters or had any information that suggested they’re in development, it does seem likely that at least oneHarry Potterand oneBarbiecharacter would accompany these stages. The most likely picks are each franchise’s namesake, though co-stars likeRyan Gosling’s Ken, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger would also fitMultiVersus' roster nicely.

WithHarry Potterstill being one of the biggest franchises in the world – even despite its creator’s hateful Twitter tirades – andBarbiebeing the highest-grossing movie of 2023, it would make complete sense for Warner Bros. to add those characters toMultiVersus. But withMultiVersusstrugglinga little to retain its player-base (currently sitting at a 24-hour peak of 3,367 players according to SteamDB), Warner Bros. might be reluctant to add such renowned characters to the game in its current state.
