My Hero Academiais filled with constant clashes, mostly between Pro Heroes and Villains. Because of this, many high-stakes moments are constantly featured in this series, each being more vital than the last as the story progresses. While some quirks boast undeniable strength and can be game changers, some utility quirks might also be of use in moments that no one expects them to be a total game changer.
These quirks are often used to change the tide in battle in unexpected ways, either on their own or in combination with other quirks. As such, these quirks inMy Hero Academiasaved the day when all hope seemed lost, flipping the narrative at the last second and snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.
4Cement
User: Ken Ishiyama (Cementoss)
Ken Ishiyama, the U.A. High Teacher, is one of the minor characters in the series who gets almost no screen time, but he played a very vital role during the sports festival that most fans might not remember. The sports festival included a main event pitting the students against each other. After several battles, it was time for Midoriya Izuku to go up against Todoroki Shoto.
Todoroki and Midoriya put on a spectacle, but Todoroki soon began to tremble as a result of not using his father’s fire quirk to warm up his body as he used his ice, and Midoriya resorted to provoking him to do so and not hold back.Shoto eventually unleashed his flamesand launched a devastating attack using his full force, which Midoriya responded to with a hundred percent of One For All. Ken Ishiyama quickly noticed this and reacted in a split second to create giant concrete barriers between them to prevent them from doing fatal damage to one another. Despite this, there was still an enormous shockwave that threatened to blow the arena apart.
3Rewind
User: Eri
The battle between the Police Force, Heroes, and Overhaul’s Shie Hassaikai to rescue Eri and put a stop to their production of bullets that have the ability to erase a person’s quirk by destroying their quirk factor. They produced thesebullets using Eri’s Rewind quirk, which has the power to reverse time on anything, creating ammunition that could rewind a person’s quirk factor into nonexistence.
Lemillion, who was shown to be stronger than Overhaul, was forced to take a quirk-destroying bullet for Eri, and all hope seemed lost till Midoriya and Eri came up with an idea on how to channel a hundred percent of One For All without damaging his body.
Strapped to his back for the duration of the fight, Eri reversed all the damage Midoriya’s body sustained every time he used his quirk at a hundred percent output, allowing him to go beyond his limit and easily overpowerOverhaul even in his monster-likeform. Although Midoriya saved the day, it would not have been possible without the help of Eri and her quirk, which healed him simultaneously as he sustained damage.
2New Order
User: Cathleen Bate (Star And Stripe)
Following the events of the Paranormal Liberation War, the U.S.A. Number One Hero Star and Stripe decided to head over to Japan to meet with and assist All Might, Midoriya, and the other Pro Heroes, but she was intercepted by Shigaraki Tomura, who decided that it would be catastrophic for them if that meeting was allowed to happen. Thus, a great showdown began between the two heavyweights, but it was mainly a showcase of how strong Star and Stripe and her quirk, New Order, are.
She was able to go toe-to-toe with Shigaraki and had the opportunity to defeat him if she was willing to strike down one of her comrades with him. Alas, she fell victim to him, and he was able to steal her quirk and make her decay, but not before she commanded the vestige of New Orderto destroy many of the quirkswithin him. He lost many important quirks and was forced to retreat in the end and go into hiding; although Star and Stripe died, she was able to save the day in the end.
1One for All (Dying Embers)
User: Toshinori Yagi (All Might)
The Hideout Raid Arc was birthed after Bakugo was kidnapped by the League of Villains, and a group of U.A. students decided it was their responsibility to save their friend and attempt a rescue behind the backs of the Pro Heroes. However, the appearance of All For One severely complicated their rescue plan, as most of them became paralyzed due to fear. All Might then suddenly appears out of thesky to face his arch nemesis, despite his grave injury and dying embers, meaning he is now much weaker than he used to be.
All For One also acknowledged this, saying he is much slower than he used to be, as he expected him to appear much earlier than he did. After a gruesome battle, All Might went beyond plus ultra to attain a United States of Smash attack that was strong enough to dispose of the villain, but it also meant that he also lost whatever remained of his quirk. So while this powerful quick most certainly saved the day, it did so with great cost.
