My Hero Academiaconcluded recently and fans finally gotto see Deku’s journey come to an end.This journey lasted for 10 years and it was certainly one of the most emphatic stories that fans have gotten to witness in recent years. It would be disingenuous to say thatMy Hero Academiawasn’t a successful story. This is a series that has moved millions of people all over the world, and it is something that fans have absolutely fallen in love with, which is proof of its success as well.
However, just as is the case with most stories,My Hero Academiadoes have its fair share of abandoned plotlines. These abandoned plotlines were set up by the author himself, but then, a payoff for them never really came.
The End Of My Hero Academia
At The End Of My Hero Academia, Deku Lost His Quirk But Became A Hero Again
The end ofMy Hero Academiawas somewhat controversial. For one, fans got to seeDeku become a Quirkless boy once again, and, unlike his other friends, he did not even get to become a Pro Hero. Deku graduated from UA 2 years after the end of the final war, and with that, he lost the powers of the One For All as well. Deku did have the Embers of the quirk inside of his body, but, at an unknown time, they burned out and left him. After this period of time, Deku was likely left behind by all his friends in terms of progress and he then decided to become a teacher in UA.
Goodbye, One For All! – Deku
According to Deku, there was still more he could offer to society even if he did not have a Quirk. That is precisely why he decided to work for the up-and-coming generation and show them that he too is an incredibly useful member of society even without his Quirk. Deku most likely even witnessed the rise of many of his students to the position of pro-hero.
Even though Deku helped many people, deep down, he missed the life of a hero, and this is something that was hinted at in the story, especially when Deku saved a boy falling in front of him, which simply told him that he still had his hero instincts. Eventually, Deku was offered a hero suit by All Might, and this armor made him incredibly powerful once again. This armor was extremely expensive, and the one who paid for this armor was none other than Bakugo. along with him, other hero students also contributed in small amounts.
Deku’s armor took quite a few years to complete, and once it was done, he was able to become a Hero again, saving people with a smile on his face. With that, My Hero Academia officially marked its conclusion, and fans were left wanting more.
The Changes Made To The Hero Society
The World Of My Hero Academia Changed Drastically At The End Of The Story
While the ending toMy Hero Academiawas certainly not the worst that fans have seen, it certainly left a lot to be desired. For one, fans believe this ending is rushed in many ways as they did not have enough time to absorb anythingthat happened in the Final War Saga.For one, society in My Hero Academia changed significantly after the war. The bond between Heroes and civilians was completely broken before the war, but it was mended after. The Hero Society was completely revamped, as was implied by All Might and Hawks. Fans were told that now, Heroes were considered for the Hero Positions as well, and their heroic acts led to a better understanding between Heroes and the general public.
At the same time, the heteromorphs, who were always looked down upon and discriminated against, were leading a peaceful revolution as well, and there were major advancements made in this department as well. Unfortunately, fans did not get to see any of this. Once again, Horikoshi only put these things in words and not into practice, which meant that the Hero Society remained the same as it was at the beginning of My Hero Academia. Fans did not like this approach, and would have instead preferred to see how society changed in front of their eyes.
However, it seems that Horikoshi simply wanted to wrap up the series so that he could begin working on what comes next.
The Quirk Singularity Theory
The World Didn’t Face The Doom That Was Theorized In MHA
Another abandoned plotline in My Hero Academia was the Quirk Singularity Theory. Fans know that Dr Kyudai was one of the most incredible figures in the story in terms of what he offered as a villain. His theory was that Quirks get stronger with each passing generation.The generation of Quirk that exists todayis going to be weaker than what will come up in 10 years or so. Eventually, Quirks will become so strong that humans will struggle to adapt to them. Stronger Quirks mean stronger humans need to be bred, but, since the rate of the growth of quirks is way too fast, humans will fail to adapt and eventually, be completely consumed by them, which means that the destruction of human civilization as a whole is inevitable. This plot point was quite easily one of the most exciting ones that the fans had witnessed inMy Hero Academia. However, there was absolutely no payoff for this.
It was completely abandoned and would have made for an exciting final problem for Deku and the Heroes to tackle. Of course, if there is a My Hero Academia sequel, then fans would absolutely love to see this concept being tackled. But, for now, it remains to be a plot point that the author refused to end properly.
Deku’s Rise To Pro Hero And The Farewell of One For All
Deku Never Lived Out His Life As A Pro Hero And Failed To Become The Number One Hero
Quite easily, the biggest problem that fans have withMy Hero Academia’sending is the fact that they did not get to see Deku live out his life as a Pro Hero.Deku wanted to become the Number One Heroat the end of the series and, at the same time, be a successful Pro Hero, like All Might. While he did live out his dream of being a successful hero and even becoming one of the most renowned Heroes of all time, fans did not actually get to see him even graduate from UA.

All that was done off-screen inMy Hero Academia, and at the same time, it was concluded in a very rushed manner. Deku did not live out his dream towards the end, and in many ways, this plot point, although not abandoned, was handled poorly by the author. Fans would have absolutely loved it ifDeku actually got to become a Pro Hero within the strory.Had they got to witness his journey of going from a commoner to becoming the strongest hero of all time instead of what they got at the end, it would’ve fixed a lot of issues.
