Summary
This article contains spoilers for My Hero Academia Chapter 430.
My Hero Academiachapter 430 marked the conclusion of the series in a very exciting manner, and fans were somewhat satisfied with the ending that the series delivered. Of course, there were holes left behind in the story that fans wished were properly filled by the author. However, at the end of the day, this is the story that ran for around 10 years and had fans heavily invested in it right until the very end. Just by the nature of that, fans know thatMy Hero Academiawas bound to reduce everyone to tears and it did so, quite rightly.
Now,the journey of Deku and his friends is finally over, which means that the series has come to an official conclusion. However, there is no denying the fact that fans want aMy Hero Academiasequel to come sooner or later. As things stand, nothing has been announced, but, the idea of My Hero Academia getting a sequel is exactly what is going to be discussed here.
My Hero Academia’s Ending And The Potential For A Sequel
My Hero Academiahad a very bright ending for the vast majority of the characters. In fact, the ending has all the fans very excited, because it doesn’t close the possibilities to any sequel. At the end of My Hero Academia, fans saw Deku being Quirkless. On paper, this might look like a very grim ending for the protagonist of the series. However, as fans got to see more of the chapter, the ending got better and better for him.Deku had remained Quirklessfor around 8 years. However, shortly after that, on the last few pages of the chapter, All Might came to him and gifted him an armor. This armor was similar to the one that All Might utilized in the battle against All For One in the Final War Saga of My Hero Academia.
It was crafted by none other than his friends in the US, which means that Dave and Melissa were likely behind it. They teamed up with Hatsume and created this fantastic piece of armor, which took quite a lot of funding. The main source of the funding was none other than Bakugo, which is a great way to close the story of these two characters, given that he is now directly responsible for Deku becoming a Hero once again. At the same time, other students from Class 1A were also responsible for pitching in and ensuring that Deku gets to become a Hero once again. In the very last panel of the chapter, fans got to see Deku take flight once again and set out to help people in need, just like the old times.
Essentially, the end of My Hero Academia shows Deku becoming a hero once again and living out his dream anew. This is the ending that the author thought was best and one that fans weren’t too disappointed with. Of course, there are other aspects of the story that weren’t all that great, but all that aside, in terms of whether the story can get a sequel from here or not, the answer is an absolutely resounding yes.
Horikoshi’s Comments About Return To Jump
Horikoshi Wants To Continue Being A Mangaka For The Foreseeable Future
In order forMy Hero Academiato get a sequel of any sort, fans need to look at whether the author wants to continue the series or not. This is the biggest obstacle usually for any series to continue. For instance, when Naruto ended, Kishimoto didn’t clearly state an intention to stop the story. In fact, shortly after the end of Naruto, fans got an announcement of the Boruto movie, which then set into motion the sequel of the Naruto series, which is Boruto. Boruto has since then been serialized, and something similar could happen with My Hero Academia as well, or, it may not. Nothing can be said for sure, andall of it depends on the author, Horikoshi. Much to the liking of the fans, Horikoshi doesn’t intend to stop his work as a mangaka. He wants to continue writing manga and this has been confirmed by him on many occasions. In fact, when Horikoshi delivered his message of My Hero Academia ending in five chapters, he clearly stated that he wants to continue working as a manga artist in the future as well.
See you again in Jump soon! – Editor’s Note for My Hero Academia
If that wasn’t enough, then, fans simply need to look at the last chapter of the series, where the editor’s note clearly stated that fans should look forward to Horikoshi’s next work, with clear implication that he intends to continue writing manga. However, the big question here is whether Horikoshi wants to write My Hero Academia in the future or not. Based on what fans have seen and heard so far,Horikoshi is likely to start a completely new mangaafter the conclusion ofMy Hero Academia.
His interest seems to be in the horror/thriller genre, which means that he is likely going to craft a completely new work that is separate from My Hero Academia and go ahead with it. This will also give him the opportunity to test his skills once again and see if fans get to love his new story just as much as My Hero Academia. However, that certainly doesn’t mean that My Hero Academia cannot continue.
Will There Be A My Hero Academia Sequel?
A Possibility For A My Hero Academia Sequel Exists
For fans wondering about whether aMy Hero Academiasequel is possible or not, the answer is that it certainly is possible. There is no denying the fact that the ending toMy Hero Academialeft the door open for a sequel to follow. This sequel doesn’t necessarily have to be a new manga series. It can come in the form of a one shot, a spin-off manga composed of a few chapters, or, even a movie. There is a lot of potential for My Hero Academia in the future as well, and thatis something that Horikoshi might want to tap intolater down the line. As a story, however, My Hero Academia has officially finished and fans should not expect this very same story to continue with more arcs
One shots and movies, on the other hand, are likely to happen at some point later down the line. This is especially true becauseMy Hero Academiais incredibly popular all over the world, specifically in the West. For any author, not taking advantage of that sort of popularity is not smart at all. He could write some movies, just as he has done over the years, and given that they would be considered canon with his involvement, these movies are going to break all sorts of records, all the while giving fans more content to look forward to. This is especially true because Deku and his friends will now be adults, starring in the movies, and this would certainly elevate the popularity of the series to an entirely new level.
With that said, fans also need to keep in mind thatHorikoshi wants to start a new chapterin his life as a mangaka and focus on new manga. My Hero Academia is always going to be a big part of his legacy and he will always throw some attention to it here and there, but his new work should be appreciated and loved by the fans, provided it is worthy of it.
My Hero Academia is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and theManga Plusapp. The release date for the final chapter of My Hero Academia, My Hero Academia chapter 430, was June 24, 2025.
