A season finale doesn’t get much wilder or more intense than the end ofStranger Thingsseason 4 onNetflix. While every main character, including Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), is at a crossroads and wondering how to save Hawkins, Indiana, Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink) is in the worst situation. After being taken by Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) and spending much of the season in the Upside Down, Max is hospitalized and in terrible shape. More than a few disturbing things happen to her, but since her story is far from over, hopefully she will be okay in the end.

Will Max Defeat Vecna In Stranger Things Season 5?
Since it’s possible that Eleven’s resurrected power changed Max somehow atthe end ofStranger Thingsseason 4, there are many reasons to think that Max could be a crucial factor in beating Vecna. Since Eleven gets her powers back, it’s possible that she gave Max some of her powers on purpose or by accident. This would make Max physically and mentally stronger and ready to take on this big enemy. It would also be a satisfying storyline since Max and Eleven have been good friends for a while now. Eleven takes Max under her wing when Max moves to Hawkins, which echoes how the other main characters embrace Eleven when they find her and learn about her sad story.
Max also has firsthand knowledge of how Vecna finds victimsand it’s possible that since she’s still alive after being taken by him,Max could have a special and unique connection to Vecna that the other characters don’t have. She likely doesn’t even realize that this is the case and will continue to be a humble and kind character like she always is. But if she starts having visions of the horrifying, powerful villain, she might realize that she can lead her friends in the battle that is sure to happen in the series finale.
In an interview withW Magazinein 2022, Sadie Sink saidMax’s season 4 ending will be important forStranger Thingsseason 5, which emphasizes the theory that she could fight Vecna and win. It’s interesting to hear what she has to say, especially since the actors often admit that they haven’t heard details about their characters or plotlines. Sink said:
“They’ve been saying in interviews that Max’s state at the end of season 4 is intentional, crucial, and calculated in terms of how it’s going to come to play in season 5—I guess. I know nothing.”
There are two potential storylines for Max inStranger Thingsseason 5:Max could spend most of the season in the hospital having dreams about Vecna or she could wake up in the first episode. If the first situation happens, then Vecna might not think that Max is a huge threat, which would make for a surprising and fun finale. How Could Max’s Stranger Things Season 5 Storyline End?

Ifthe ending takes place after the apocalypse, then perhaps Max will survive with her friends and other people who have decided to work together to make ends meet. If Hawkins and the rest of the world are okay, then Max could go to college or move to another country to volunteer or discover her passions.
TheStranger Thingsseason 5 finale could feature Max beating Vecna and thenshows a “six months later” or “one year later” flashfoward. WhileWill Byers (Noah Schnapp) will hopefully be happyafter all that he’s gone through, Max also needs something good to happen to her.
SinceStranger Thingsseason 4 set up that Max feels guilty over her brother Billy’s death (Dacre Montgomery), maybe Max could do something that brings her closer to his memory. This would allow her to find closure and also give her a reason to leave Hawkins. No matter what role Max plays in fighting Vecna, hopefully she is content by the last moments of theStranger Thingsseries finale.
