Summary
While there are a few Addams Family characters inWednesdayseason 1, it was hard for fans of the quirky franchise not to wish that they could all appear on theNetflixseries. The first season does a great jobbalancing Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) as the new student at Nevermore Academy with elements of the spooky franchise.
Although it will be interesting to see what happens tonew cast members like Steve Buscemi, fans can’t help but want to see more of each classic and beloved Addams Family character. There is one in particular who made a splash and who should continue to have an unforgettable and strong presence inWednesdayseason 2.
How Wednesday Season 2 Can Use This Popular Character More
Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen) should have more scenes inWednesdayseason 2since he’s funny, quirky, and strange, just like Wednesday Addams. While he’s going to be aWednesdayseason 2 guest star, there are many reasons why he should have a larger presence, and a few ways he could be incorporated into the plot more.
Instead of being in trouble and running away, this timeUncle Fester should have a reason to visit Nevermore Academy. He should share some important family information, or he could be at a crossroads in his life and dealing with a relationship problem. Either way, he should ask Wednesday for advice, which will help her seem more mature this time around. Of course,Wednesdayseason 2 will still have scary partsand Wednesday will still be a bitter character. But there can be some moving moments between the characters as well.
Fred Armisen said in an interview withNetflix.tudum.comthat the two characters are similar, which is why they get along so much and why she tends to listen to him. This dynamic should be explored more inWednesdayseason 2. He said:
“Even though it’s a world of weirdos, she’s anextraweirdo and so is he. But still, they’re both smiling — that’s the fun part. They’re both having fun. They’re not dark black sheep. It’s more like a weird black sheep.”
SinceUncle Fester has electrical powers, he should helpWednesday use her psychic powersand troubleshoot any issues she’s having. He has more experience having special abilities, and if they could somehow combine their powers, that could help her feel more motivated to solveWednesdayseason 2’s fascinating, eerie mystery.
Including Uncle Fester more will helpadd more Addams Family humorto the second season, butFester should embrace his time at Nevermore Academy more. It would be funny to see Fester teasing teachers or spending time with Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers) and learning about her werewolf powers. He must be curious about Wednesday’s boarding school and her new life.
Armisen shared in an interview withE! Newsthat theWednesdayseason 1 finale leads right intoWednesdayseason 2. He mentioned the cliffhanger ending and while fans can’t wait to find out who the stalker is, they also want to see some small moments between these beloved characters. It would be great if there were more small moments between Wednesday and Uncle Fester. Armisen said:
“I thought that’s good writing to keep people wanting more. I think that’s difficult. Even as something that’s supposed to continue on, they did a really good job of keeping it exciting.”
What Happened To This Character In Wednesday Season 1?
Uncle Fester appears inWednesdayseason 1, episode 7, “If You Don’t Woe Me by Now"and has a few interesting scenes with his niece. Uncle Fester is also part of two important moments: saving Thing’s life and realizing that the creature in the woods behind Nevermore Academy isThe Hyde Monster, who is also Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan). Both of these plot points prove that the character may be odd, but he’s intelligent, compassionate, and always there for Wednesday. It’s also nice to see Thing and Uncle Fester together again since they have such a long history together and they are so connected.
Which Actors Have Played Uncle Fester In The Addams Family Franchise?
Uncle Fester’s biggestWednesdayseason 1 storyline is the fact thatUncle Fester visits Wednesday because he’s running away since he’s in trouble. The character lives a chaotic life and seems to enjoy every minute of it. He inspires Wednesday to live more fully and be more present, and she enjoys spending time with him. These scenes are nice to see and balance out the sarcastic comments that she makes most of the time. Given how popular the character is, it makes sense that there will beaWednesdayspinoff about Uncle Festerthat will allow fans to spend even more time with him.
