Summary

WhileWednesdayseason 1 had many talented cast members, from Jenna Ortega to Christina Ricci, fans loved watching Gwendoline Christie as Principal Larissa Weems on theNetflixseries. Weems is shrouded in mystery for the first few episodes and then her shapeshifting presence is revealed, which is one of the most exciting parts of the season. Since Mrs. Weems is so kind and intriguing to watch, she’s one of thecharacters viewers wish would return toWednesdayseason 2.

Unfortunately, sinceLarissa Weem died at the end ofWednesdayseason 1,she isn’t coming back toWednesdayseason 2. But given the fact thatWednesdayis a supernatural series, there is one way that she could return, and it would be a lot of fun to watch.

How Could Gwendoline Christie’s Larissa Weems Be Included In Wednesday Season 2?

Since the show has a supernatural focus, Mrs. Weems could come back as a ghost inWednesdayseason 2. This would make sense sinceWednesdayseason 2 will be dark. It would also feel logical since people often say spirits will return if they have unfinished business and things they still want to say. Since viewers enjoyed watching Christie’s strong portrayal of the character, it’s disappointing that her storyline seems to be over. Considering how popular she is, her character arc doesn’t feel as complete as it could.

In an interview withEntertainment Weeklyin November 2022, Gwendoline Christie talked about her character and even hinted that she believed Larissa Weems would live on. Christie said:

Gwendoline Christie as Larissa Weems in Wednesday

“I did know her arc and her fate. I didn’t have the final few episodes, but I knew her fate. But I just always felt somehow that a woman this dynamic and who has the ability to shapeshift, and the strategy of a skillful diplomat felt like someone that couldn’t be overcome easily. Certainly not by anything as commonplace as death. And so I feel like I always felt that Larissa Weems will endure no matter what.”

Considering how much Mrs. Weems cares aboutthe boarding school called Nevermore Academy, it would make sense to include aWednesdayseason 2 storyline about Mrs. Weems as a ghost. She could visit some of the main characters, including Wednesday and her season 1 roommate Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers), which would be funny. Since Wednesday has psychic abilities, maybe she could have a vision of Weems coming back as a spirit before she actually does.

What Other Roles Did Gwendoline Christie Play?

Mrs. Weems could be a friendly ghost inWednesdayseason 2 andalert Wednesday to Nevermore’s secretssince she must know all about them.Weems could also warn Wednesday about her stalker, which would give her an active role to play in the second season’s mystery. Sincenot every Addams Family relative is returning, seeing Larissa Weems again would be a welcome sight. Since Weems cares so much about ensuring that Nevermore is a safe space for her students, it seems likely that she would be extra protective of Wednesday, who is her newest pupil. There are a few season 1 scenes where it seems like Wednesday and Mrs. Weems have an unspoken connection as Weems seems to know more about her new student than she is letting on. This connection could be explored much more inWednesdayseason 2.

What Happened To Larissa Weems In Wednesday Season 1?

Larissa Weems has an exciting character arc inWednesdayseason 1. After being introduced as the principal of Nevermore Academy, it seems clear that there is something darker and more mysterious about her. Of course, this makes her one of the best characters on the Netflix series since it feels like something big could happen to her at any moment. Fans quickly learn Mrs. Weems is a shapeshifter and watch in horror asMarilyn Thornhill/Laurel Gates (Christina Ricci) killed Weems by stabbing her with a needle that has nightshade.

SinceWednesdayseason 2 should focus less on YA tropesthan season 1, it’s fun to look back at Larissa Weems’s character since she has one of the more grown-up storylines. In contrast to Laurel Gates, Mrs. Weems is a compassionate person who truly enjoys running Nevermore Academy. It’s a shame not to see her again inWednesdayseason 2 because she makes such a big impression in just eight episodes.
