One cult horror franchise may have the perfect opportunity to be the next to cross over intoDead by Daylight. With its collection of licensed characters,Dead by Daylightcan be considered aSuper Smash Bros.equivalent for the horror genre. Even with how many IPs are already featured in the game, there is still room for more. In particular, one franchise that has yet to join the game has a good argument for being the next in line. In fact, it may be its best opportunity yet for a crossover withDead by Daylight.
The manycrossovers ofDead by Daylighthave been incredibly important to the game. They have the obvious advantage of drawing more attention, especially from fans of the IPs in question. Not to mention, every new Killer added to the game offers a brand new playstyle, while Survivors and Killers alike grant new perks to potentially change the meta.Dead by Daylightitself is a solid game in terms of its mechanics and design. After all, it wouldn’t be able to attract such high-profile crossovers otherwise. At the same time, incorporating these crossovers has undoubtedly been one of the best moves that the developers have made.
For fans, thereveal ofDead Rising Deluxe Remasterwas a pleasant surprise. AfterDead Rising 4’s release in 2016, the series' momentum came to a halt, with no new games releasing for the next eight years.Dead Rising Deluxe Remasteris a chance to not only bring back the fans, but put the first game back into the spotlight. If the game is a success, it could revive the franchise, or at least lead to remasters of the other games.Dead Rising’s return in September also makes it a prime candidate for a timelyDead by Daylightcrossover.
Dead Rising’s Frank West would be a perfect candidate to join Alan Wake andLara Croft inDead by Daylightas yet another video game representative. He’s the recognizable face of the franchise, making him a natural choice. In addition, the series has at least two locations with incredible potential as maps in Willamette Mall and Fortune City. As for a killer, Adam MacIntyre is probably the most recognizable boss from the series. However, sinceDead by Daylightalready has a clown, the developers might instead choose primary antagonists like Brock Mason or TK.Dead Risingcan certainly provide quality content forDead by Daylight.
Capcom and Behaviour Previously Collaborated For the Resident Evil Crossovers
There are other reasons why aDead Risingcollaboration would make sense as well.Dead by Daylightcrossed over withResident Eviltwice, in addition to adding extra cosmetics. Not only isResident Evilanother Capcom IP, but it’s a far bigger franchise thanDead Rising. Since Capcom has already allowedResident Evilto be the star of two different chapters, it’s clearly open to working with Behaviour. WithDead Risingset for a potential comeback, it could follow in those footsteps. It’s not definitive proof, but it’s a decent argument for aDead Risingchapter in the future.
Dead Rising’s Frank West would be a perfect candidate to join Alan Wake and Lara Croft inDead by Daylightas yet another video game representative.
Dead Rising’s comeback could be more spectacular if it’s paired with aDead by Daylightchapter. As a perfect example ofDead by Daylightcrossovers that haven’t happened yet,Dead Risingfeels like it could be a shoo-in for a chapter of its own. It has solid survivor, map, and killer options, and the timing window would be perfect if it came out in or near September to coincide with the release of the remaster. There may be no better time for aDead Risingcrossover inDead by Daylight.
