Summary

There have been thousands of anime series that have come and gone with the wind. Some shows define a genre, or anime, as a whole, shaping what the medium will become in future generations. These shows left a mark on anime’s history, cementing themselves as works of art for decades to come. Genre-defining anime significantly impacts fans and future authors and influences the stories they create.

Series such as Cowboy Bebop andMacrosshave all left their mark not just in their era but in the science fiction genre as a whole. But not all series get their chance in the spotlight. In addition, some shows that are still remembered were held back by the technology of their time. Dozens of science fiction anime deserve a second chance, much like the popular remake ofTrigun Stampede. Here are some great Sci-Fi anime that deserve a remake.

Air Gear

7Air Gear

A Spectacular Visual Experience

Air Gearis a spectacular anime that melded the stylishness of the X-games and super-human abilities gifted to ambitious teens by advanced roller skates. Ikki was a delinquent heading nowhere fast when he fell head first into the world of Air-Treks, mechanically enhanced devices allowing super-human movement.

Along with these high-tech devices were several individuals known as Kings who could manipulate Air-Treks to harness incredible powers. Ikki was instantly entranced and set out to rise the ladder and become king over all others with his own style.Air Gearwas a great series but suffered due to taxing animation and cost. The series deserves a chance to bring the true vision of the manga to life and finish the series for the previous and current generations.

Mobile Suit Gundam 1979

Mobile Suit Gundamneeds no introduction as it stands as one of the most influential manga in the world, and it put mecha on the map for good. The original series that followed the bitter rivalry between Amuro Ray and Char Aznable through the cosmos is a true work of art by author Yoshiyuki Tomino. Since the original release, countless Gundam anime and films have been released over the years that have expanded into multiple universes. However, a chance to experience the original series in high definition with today’s visual standards would be an amazing watch and revitalize the mecha genre for a second time.

Deadman Wonderlandwas a dark and sinister series that followed Ganta Igarashi, a middle school student sentenced to life in a super-max prison for massacring his entire class. Having been framed, Ganta couldn’t even catch his breath before he was thrust into a secret world underneath the prison where inmates with secret abilities to manipulate blood were pitted against one another for entertainment. A mysterious trail of breadcrumbs leads Ganta to discover his own abilities and repressed memories that reveal that the prison may be more of a home than he thought. It could be argued thatDeadman Wonderlandpaved the way for series likeJujutsu Kaisenand how dark that series can become, making it an excellent choice for a remake to continue the story that would fit into the recent Shonen releases.

Chidori Kaname is an average high school girl trying to live an everyday life who quickly becomes involved in an international shadow war after her intellect becomes one of the most vital pieces in military advancement in history. Chidori is assigned an expertly trained military protection detail that introduces her to Senouske Sagara, a young man not much older than her who has known nothing but war his entire life. The whimsical and sometimes hilarious journey the mixed pair go on is a great watch. The original series would make a great remake to bring to the current generation of anime fans of anime likeEight-Six.

Gantz

Gantzis one of the most thrilling and polarizing anime of its time. When a small group of individuals meet their end and reawaken in a cramped hotel room, things become even stranger when they’re placed in an omnipotent “game,” sending them to exterminate monsters in order to earn a chance and return to the world of the living.

Gantztackled a series of complex character types and handled serious situations while mixing in mind-bending scenarios that pushed character psyches to their limits. Bringing this intense horror series back to life will be a smash hit and a breath of fresh air in the science fiction genre that Studio Nut would be perfect for.

Full Metal Panic! anime kaname

Outlaw Staris another classic series that takes anime fans to the stars, where alternate dimensions contain unbelievable powers, and space wizards seek to take it for themselves. Gene Starwind was an average bounty hunter with a chip on his soldier, always waiting to return until he ran in with an intergalactic legend that charged him with a mission to find the Galactic Leyline.

The journey only grows more perilous from there as Gene fashions a rag-tag crew of space pirates and assassins to take on all comers.Outlaw Starwould be a spectacular remake with updated graphics for its intense spaceship battles and possibly the same English voice cast returning.
