The last few episodes ofOne Piecehave focused on Hachinosu, the territory of Blackbeard. After taking over the island, he turned it into his main base. So, when news of Koby’s disappearance started circulating, it was quite apparent that Blackbeard had taken the young Marine to Hachinosu.
It was a while before the anime disclosed the reason behind the kidnapping. Blackbeard wanted to use Koby as a bargaining chip to strike a deal with the World Government. However, his plans were put on hold after he found out that Koby was a member of SWORD. So, he left the Marine Captain on Hachinosu under the watchful eye of the Ten Titanic Captains. Koby’s status as a member of SWORD meant the Marines had no obligation to save him. So, Garp decided to take responsibility. He gathered some young but talented Marines and began sailing to Hachinosu. One of them was Prince Grus.
Prince Grus And His Gunyo Gunyo no Mi
The Rear Admiral Showed His Power In Episode 1114
Prince Grus made his debut in the story as a part of Capone Bege’s cover story. The Rear Admiral was later seen on the G-14 base talking to Helmeppo, who wanted to go and rescue Koby. Prince Grus turned him down because the mission was too dangerous. However, he seems to have changed his mind after Garp came to the G-14 base.

Prince Grustraveled to Hachinosu andwas one of the few Marines who immediately landed on the island. He used the Gunyo Gunyo no Mi to create clay puppets and used them to push the pirates into the corner. The criminals had no idea that they were clay puppets, and they kept firing bullets in hopes of stopping them. Prince Grus' Devil Fruit came in handy yet again to cushion the fall of Garp’s ship. Without the Gunyo Gunyo no Mi, the ship would have sustained serious damage, leaving the Marines without an escape route. The Gunyo Gunyo no Mi exhibits signsof a Logia-type Devil Fruit,but it is unconfirmed whether it falls within the category. The only other class that the Devil Fruit can belong to is Paramecia.
The Limitations Of The Gunyo Gunyo no Mi
The Gunyo Gunyo no Mi Is Not Without Flaws
If the Gunyo Gunyo no Mi is a Logia-type Devil Fruit, then it will be one of the better powers in One Piece. However, it doesn’t mean that the Devil Fruit is without limitations. After the introduction of Haki, fans know it is possible to hurt Logia-type Devil Fruit users as well. So, if Prince Grus were to come across an opponent with better Haki control, the Rear Admiral would be in big trouble. He wouldn’t be able to protect himself no matter what.
Clay is a naturally occurring substance and is used to create pottery. Clay can be shaped into different shapes, as long as it is wet. However, it becomes firm after being heated up. So, if Prince Grus faced, say, theuser of the Mera Mera no Mi, the former would be at a significant disadvantage. Instead of being able to flow freely, Grus' body would become rigid, after which it can be broken easily.
Will Prince Grus Have A Big Role To Play In The Future?
Prince Grus Along With Several Others Will Change The Marines
Due to his limited appearances, it is difficult to gauge how important of a role Prince Grus is going to have inOne Piece. Considering that he made his debut in the Final Saga, odds are that he will be more involved than some other Marines. Another thing that Grus has going for him is his age. As a young Marine, Grus belongs to the next generation of soldiers, and given the direction the story is going in, most of the high-ranking individuals will be replaced. So, there is a chance that Prince Grus might nab a promotion before the series reaches its conclusion.
However, Grus won’t be the only one striving to claim the top spots. Other characters, such as Smoker, Koby, and Kujaku, are all talented.Smoker is a Vice Admiralwho nearly crushed Luffy’s dream before it even began. He has been away from the spotlight as Oda is likely saving him for the upcoming arcs. Koby is a member of SWORD who already has the title of Hero, which puts him in an elite bracket. Additionally, Garp called him the future of the Marines, so it is obvious that Koby will have a significant role to play in the series. In the past, he has stated that his dream is to become an Admiral, and, given his present trajectory, it is bound to happen. Finally, Kujaku is the granddaughter of Tsuru, a legendary Marine. Kujakuappeared in the Egghead arcas well, where she showed off the power of her Muchi Muchi no Mi. She seems to have excellent control over it, and it will only continue to improve. As Tsuru’s descendant, there are a lot of expectations from Kujaku, and, hopefully, she manages to live up to them.
