Summary
WhenPokemon Legends: Z-Acomes out, it would make a lot of sense to see one particular mission make an appearance. With the setting and theme ofPokemon Legends: Z-A, there are going to be plenty of opportunities for it to do things that might not work in typicalPokemontitles. This will likely come through in several of the game’s missions. In fact, the pieces are already in place for one potential mission inPokemon Legends: Z-A. Not only is the theme perfect, but the lastPokemon Legendsgame already gave an example of how it could work.
The use ofmissions inPokemon Legends: Arceusmarked a stark difference from traditionalPokemongames. Rather than the usual goal of earning gym badges and challenging the Pokemon League,Pokemon Legends: Arceusinstead tasked players with a series of missions to push the game’s story along. In addition, the game had several side missions that gave players more things to do and chances to experience more of Hisui, its sights, and its people. It would be no surprise to seePokemon Legends: Z-Aadopts a similar format. There’s a wealth of potential missions for players to take on in and around Lumiose City.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A Can Make Zygarde Cells Into a Quest Goal
Zygarde Would Fit Perfectly Into Pokemon Legends: Z-A
The chance to seeZygarde inPokemon Legends: Z-Afeels like a natural choice. As the third legendary of the Kalos region following Xerneas and Yveltal, Zygarde has not gotten a chance to shine the same way past legendaries like Mewtwo and Giratina have. In addition, the game’s title,Pokemon Legends: Z-A, gives off the impression that Zygarde will make an appearance, since it’s the Z to Xerneas' X and Yveltal’s Y. Plus,Pokemon Legends: Arceusprominently featured one Legendary Pokemon, the titular Arceus. IfPokemon Legends: Z-Agives any Legendary a starring role in the story, it will likely be Zygarde.
Zygarde Cells Could Be Collectible Like Spiritomb’s Wisps
Pokemon Legends: Z-Acould take inspiration from the mission involvingcollecting wisps inPokemon Legends: Arceusfor Zygarde. InPokemon Legends: Arceus, the player was tasked with finding 107 wisps scattered across Hisui in order to find Spiritomb. A similar gimmick could be used for Zygarde inPokemon Legends: Z-A, especially since something similar already happened inPokemon Sun & Moon. Players could once again find themselves collecting Zygarde Cells in order to summon the legendary Pokemon, either as part of the main story, a sidequest, or a postgame reward. Zygarde Cells could be the spiritual successor toPokemon Legends; Arceus' Spiritomb wisps.
A Zygarde Missions Could Be Vital to Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Story
There is an excellent case to be made for making collecting Zygarde’s cells a major goal beyond constructingZygarde’s Complete Forme inPokemon. In its lore, Zygarde is a protector of the environment, defending the world from those who would harm it. WithPokemon Legends: Z-Aseemingly revolving around the construction of Lumiose City, it’s possible that something seriously dangerous could be uncovered, requiring Zygarde’s intervention. That could be the trigger for the player to collect Zygarde’s cells in order to stop whatever calamity is in the works from occurring. The search for Zygarde’s cells could be a big part ofPokemon Legends: Z-A’s story.

Pokemon Legends: Z-Amay already have one of its many potential missions lined up. Using Zygarde Cells to make aspiritual successor toPokemon Legends: Arceus' Spiritomb Questcould be an opportunity that is difficult to pass up. There is already precedent for such a mission, and Zygarde itself provides a perfect explanation for players to collect its cells. Considering the game’s premise, it would make sense for Zygarde to appear in the first place. It won’t be surprising ifPokemon Legends: Z-Asees players collecting Zygarde Cells.
