Based on what has been revealed so far, one ofStar Wars Outlaws' most intriguing features is its characters. Front runningStar Wars Outlaws' roster isKay Vess, the game’s scoundrel protagonistwho dreams of pulling off one of the greatest heists in history. There’s also her axolotl-like alien companion, Nix, who follows Kay on her journey and helps her with various tasks, including distracting enemies and retrieving valuable items. Apart from who will possibly beStar Wars Outlaws' two most prominent characters, one other character has proven so far to be a particularly mysterious one, to the point that he has become a fan-favorite far ahead of the game’s release: ND-5.
Not much is known about ND-5, aside from the fact that he will assist Kay in her endeavors to some extent. However, Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment have disclosed a bit of information about the Commando Droid that makes him all the more intriguing and, shouldStar Wars Outlawsneglect to dig too much into his backstory, would be a perfect excuse for future DLC. There are currently two confirmed post-launch DLCs forStar Wars Outlaws, but it is unclear what all that will entail. While these DLCs could simply be more content featuring Kay as the playable character, there may be enough reason to put players in control of ND-5 and allow them to experience his backstory firsthand.
ND-5 Would Be a Perfect Fit for Star Wars Outlaws DLC
ND-5 Has an Extensive History That Dates Back to the Clone Wars
According to ND-5’s official character description, he is “a weathered BX Commando Droid turned Syndicate Enforcer after the end of the Clone Wars. ND-5 wears a trench coat, hiding scars from battles in his past.” AsStar Wars Outlawsis set around 4 ABY (After the Battle of Yavin) andthe Clone Warstook place between 22 and 19 BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin), this means ND-5 has a history that spans at least over two decades by the timeStar Wars Outlawstakes place. Needless to say, this particular droid had seen a lot of action ahead of his encounter with Kay Vess.
During the Clone Wars, ND-5 was a BX-series Commando Droid, which was an advanced battle droid used by the Separatists. BX Commando Droids were known for their ability to fend off a wide variety of foes, even proving to be a tough challenge for some Jedi to overcome. They were primarily used for infiltration purposes and could easily get behind enemy lines to flank them without being noticed, which inadvertently makes ND-5 a perfect fit for Kay’s team inStar Wars Outlaws. Unfortunately, likeStar Wars Outlaws' Trailblazer, BX Commando Droids were too expensive to mass produce, making ND-5 a rare specimen.
ND-5’s Backstory Would Be a Unique DLC Addition to Star Wars Outlaws
As a BX Commando Droid turned Syndicate Enforcer,ND-5 has a backstorythat arguably needs to be told in more than mere dialogue throughoutStar Wars Outlaws. Firstly, the battle scars that he hides in a trench coat tell the story of a droid who was involved in intense battles and yet somehow managed to escape. Once he became a Syndicate Enforcer, it’s assumed that he was hired by the Hutt Clan as a security droid to protect their assets and eliminate their debtors. All of this gives more than enough reason for ND-5 to have his own DLC.
WhileStar Wars Outlaws' post-launch DLCpacks have yet to be disclosed, at least one of them would be a great opportunity to put players in ND-5’s shoes and allow them to experience his story firsthand. Perhaps a DLC could take players back to the Clone Wars and see his story unfold as he eventually becomes a Syndicate Enforcer. Regardless, the hope is that ND-5 will get plenty of attention inStar Wars Outlawsin one way or another.
