TwoOverwatch 2fans have designed an impressive Bowser skin for Mauga, complete with big changes to Cha Cha and Gunny. Compared to otherOverwatch 2characters, Mauga is a fresh face on the roster, and this may be the perfect addition to his cosmetic lineup.
WhenOverwatch 2was released, the character roster from the original game was joined by Sojourn, Kiriko, and Junker Queen. Since then, Blizzard has added new heroes every season, including Ramattra, Lifeweaver, and Illari. In most cases, these characters were unlocked by purchasing the seasonal Battle Pass, or all of them could be unlocked as a full package in the Shop. Mauga is a Tank hero that was introducedinOverwatch 2Season 8, and players could try the character ahead of his official release thanks to a testing phase. Two Mauga fans have created a unique Bowser skin for the Tank hero that makes his guns look straight out of the Mushroom Kingdom.
Twitter user Beptaep and Reddit user Crogdan4 recently worked together to create an impressive Bowser skin concept forOverwatch 2’s Mauga. The ammo cases for Cha Cha and Gunny are adorned by a metallic Bowser head, and their backs feature his spiky shell. There are slight differences between the two guns, as Cha Cha is Bullet Bill-themed, and Gunny is centered around the Fire Flower power-up. Both guns are full of references to theSuper Mariofranchise, with Brick Blocks, blue and red Spike Tops, red and green Warp Pipes, and Bowser’s insignia incorporated into their design. Bowser’s notorious spikes and chains also cover both guns, ultimately making them unrecognizable from Mauga’s standard weapons.
This Overwatch 2 Skin Turns Mauga Into Bowser
According to Crogdan4, theirSuper Marioconcept for Mauga was created in Blender. By comparison, the character skin itself doesn’t have as many small details, with Mauga sporting green and yellow armor, and horns poking out of crimson-red hair. The guns are covered in details that would be hard forSuper Mariofans to miss. While noOverwatch 2weapon skins are quite as detailed, the design may have to be scaled back before it could be implemented in the game. With custom games available thanks toOverwatch 2’s Workshop, players may be able to makeSuper Mario-themed worlds. As Nintendo is notorious for removing such content, such a concept may not be live for long.
Because Nintendo doesn’t often collaborate with other games for crossovers like this, it’s unlikely that Mauga will receive a Bowser-themed skin. Although Nintendo may not be up for it,Overwatch 2has crossed over withTransformers,One-Punch Man, and Porsche, making further collaborations likely.
