Summary

TwoOverwatch 2players have discovered that the Lifeweaver Petal Platform can extend beyond its initial lift using Mei’s abilities. ManyOverwatch 2characters pair well with others as symbiosis is helpful in the team dynamic, and this duo has resulted in a novel strategy.

WhenOverwatch 2was released, it held many similarities to the original title, with a handful of changes that made it stand out. The team dynamics are similar to its predecessor, with the primary change being a formation of five players in a given group instead of six. With Tank and Support heroes essential to success, many players use the role queue to ensure that their team has the appropriate mix of characters. Role queue will match one Tank with two Support, and two Damage heroes. While this often results in success, the characters selected by players in these roles also make a difference. A Mei just discovered that matching with Lifeweaver can create a beneficial dynamic when using the Petal Platform.

Reddit user Lifeleaver recently shared anOverwatch 2clip highlighting the benefits of using Mei abilities on a Petal Platform. The video begins withOverwatch 2’s Lifeweaverhaving already laid down a Petal Platform in front of Mei on the Lijiang Tower map. Mei then walks onto the Petal Platform which rises to the standard height before the Damage hero places an Ice Wall on it. After the Ice Wall crumbles, the Petal Platform lifts even higher, resulting in double the height of a standard version of the ability. Mei’s Cryo-Freeze then causes the Petal to climb more, making it a perfect sniping platform at triple the height of a Platform in the hands of most heroes. Although Mei tries to make it lift higher with another Ice Wall, the platform disappears under her, highlighting the limitations of combining both heroes' abilities.

This Lifeweaver Petal With Mei Shows a Neat Trick

Once at the maximum height of the Petal Platform, Mei showcases how many areas of Lijiang Tower her primary weapon fire reaches. This combination ofOverwatch 2’s Meiand Lifeweaver could be essential for gamers with pinpoint precision with Mei’s Endothermic Blaster. While Mei’s final attempt to get higher fails, this could be due to cooldowns and ability durations. A Petal Platform will disappear over time and Mei can only use her abilities so quickly. Mei can use Cryo-Freeze and Ice Wall every 12 seconds, with both having a maximum duration of 5 seconds. Lifeweaver’s Petal Platform can last indefinitely when it isn’t used, but will disappear after 12 seconds once it lifts a player. This means that Mei only has 12 seconds to lift it higher and utilize the extra height effectively.

While this Lifeweaver and Mei strategy could be used to win matches, Blizzard may make increasing the Petal Platform’s range impossible in the future. AsBlizzard regularly updatesOverwatch 2, Lifeweaver and Mei could see nerfs that make this tactic impossible in the future.
